PSJ fabrications, a Wood subsidiary company, is recruiting for a Welder Fabricator to join our Sheet Metal Fabrication team based in Bedford.
The position requires a time served Welder who has successfully completed either their apprenticeship and/or vocational qualification. You will join a team of Welder Fabricators ensuring all tasks are carried out to the highest safety standards while adhering to project requirements & specifications. As a Welder within the team, you will have good technical knowledge with the ability to complete all work scopes in line with the applicable work packs with support from your supervisor. You will attend daily toolbox talks, where the team are encouraged to share their knowledge and best practices.
Working as a team to deliver for our client base, including customers in heavily regulated industries such as Nuclear and Defence. Our quality driven systems require welders used to working in regulated industries to ISO3834 standards, working to and becoming qualified to Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).

Responsibilities
- To complete all work scopes communicated by the line supervisor in accordance with work pack / job card instructions, including working to engineering drawings, weld maps and WPS’s
- Become qualified to a range of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
- Responsible for ensuring the safe execution of all activities
- Report any defect / inspection reports to Line Supervisors in a clear and concise manner
- Report any changes in scope of work to Line Supervisor so a safe re-assessment of the work scope can be completed
- Support overall delivery of company goals and schedule
- Support team performance and development by sharing knowledge and best practices
- Participate and carry out toolbox talks as required
- Awareness of physical condition of plant and equipment to ensure technical integrity is maintained
- Awareness of personal safety, that of others and risks associated with the scope
Qualifications
- Time served, with apprenticeship and/or vocational qualification
- Experienced with becoming qualified to Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
- Experience of fabricating with thin gauge sheet metal
- Present a sound technical knowledge
- Ability to understand relevant fabrication drawings, weld maps and WPS’s
- You will be required to pass a Weld Test associated with the materials used on site
