Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Cost Engineer in Aberdeen, Scotland. This role is offered on a flexible hybrid basis (3 days in office, 2 working from home). It is a full-time, permanent position, and we can also consider a fixed-term PSC contract for the right candidate.

Our Upstream team will continue to play an important role in providing energy security. We design, engineer, build, operate and maintain the most complex assets in the world in the harshest of environments, providing solutions across the asset life cycle from concept to decommissioning. At all levels our goal is to provide our clients with complete assurance that their asset is in safe hands.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing cost engineering support across upstream oil and gas projects, being responsible for the development and control of project budgets, cost forecasting and performance reporting throughout the full project lifecycle.
  • Ensuring cost reports are prepared to the required level of detail and accuracy, and in accordance with contractual requirements and Wood policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Identifying areas of best practice and driving continuous improvement within the Cost team.

Responsibilities:

  • Budgets correspond in structure and monetary value to submitted estimates, the WBS & CBS.
  • Original and current budgets correspond to approved estimates, plus approved scope changes through the full project life cycle.
  • Project issues are highlighted and communicated in an efficient timely manner.
  • Updates are completed in a timely manner.
  • Cost reports are accurate within the bounds of the cost system, in line with the agreed Cost Cut off periods, ensuring accurate cost processing with the inclusion of all PO commitments and actuals.
  • Project reporting deliverables, including but not limited to the Cost Report, PO Analysis and Cost Forecasting, shall be produced and issued in full compliance with the contractual reporting calendar.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in a relevant technical or business discipline (or equivalent gained through relevant vocational training and/or industry experience).

Knowledge, Skills, And Experience:

  • Strong relevant cost experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of cost management software and associated principles, tools, and techniques, including budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow management. Training will be provided on Wood cost software.
  • Excellent knowledge of Project Execution Procedures for Cost Management including Change Management.
  • Excellent understanding of WBS & CBS structures and project reporting capabilities.
  • Advanced ability to develop project cost budgets and change estimates.
  • Advanced ability to prepare cost reports.
  • Strong understanding of change management and associated cost and schedule processes.
  • Strong understanding of earned value application, cost and schedule variance analyses/trending and what-if scenarios.
