Wood is currently recruiting for a Scaffolding, Insulation and Painting (SIP) Lead (Discipline Construction Lead) on a 12 month contract basis. The role will be based on Teesside at the project site office at Redcar. If required, you will be expected to conduct occasional travel to EPC contractor’s design offices in Paris and potential EPC Contractor facilities in the UK and overseas. It will be a full-time site-based role with Mon‑Fri site working pattern overseeing all construction areas on the project. Limited but regular overtime may be required in keeping with EPC working patterns, which may change through the life of the project.
The Role
As the SIP Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing all scaffolding, insulation and painting construction activities executed by the EPC and PCC Contractors. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Health and Safety
- Industrial Relations
- Quality
- Constructability
- Readiness
- Erection, dismantling and modification of scaffolding
- Preparation and application of coating systems
- Prefabrication, preparation and application of insulation systems
- Turnover through to Mechanical Completion and Client Handover
- Cleanliness, preservation, and readiness for handover
- Leadership of client standards for 'build it tight' and 'build it clean'
- Coordination with EPC Discipline Piping Leads for all piping scope
- Coordination with Equipment Leads for all static equipment scope
- Coordination with Electrical and Instrumentation Leads for all electrical and instrumentation scaffolding scope
- Coordinate with Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning Leads as part of a systemised completion and handover
- Coordinating with HSE Leads for ensuring access is assessed, planned, and conducted ensuring suitable plant and methodology are in place with appropriate exclusion and access controls
- Ensuring compliance with client specifications, project specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements
- Ensuring EPC reporting is compliant and reflects the status of the work
The role will involve close coordination with EPC engineering teams and site contractors through installation, inspection and testing, turnover, mechanical completion, and handover.
