Wood Reading have a fantastic role on a contract basis for an experienced Principal Planner to join the team working on a long term Middle Eastern Mega Project.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate at Board level for schedule management of a mega project at the highest strategic tier, ensuring that time-related decisions align with corporate objectives and stakeholder expectations.
  • Ensure that the WBS is used to organize the engineering work by contract, such that project details can be rolled up and progress measured by package.
  • Accurately maintain the up-to-date status of the project, against a baseline schedule agreed by the management team.
  • Create, specify, monitor, validate, review and comment upon all schedules for the Project. Provide schedules to the IPMT Planning Team for evaluation against the Program Schedule.
  • Summarise the more detailed execution schedules into a series of summary activities, which represent the overall time spans for the execution of a more detailed sequence of activities.
  • Interface milestones will be listed in an Interface Table which will be used to monitor and control the interfaces. This Interface Table will be updated/reviewed on a monthly basis.
  • Receive schedule updates from various parties and, where appropriate, will be responsible for cross-distributing schedule information to other impacted parties/contractors.
  • Need to ensure schedules are in place for the entire project scope covering every stage of the projects and at the appropriate level of detail.
  • Maintain a record of the agreed baseline schedules for each major parcel of scope or Contract, together with a record of the most recent schedule status update received.
  • During the early stages of the program, provide schedule input to Procurement to develop the required timing for the procurement of long lead equipment and schedule critical items.
  • Regularly monitor status, where schedule requirements dictate that bid packages and procurement activities are progressed ahead of EXECUTE contract award.
  • Provide a supporting function, as required, assessing the schedule impact of any contract changes.
  • Expedite the receipt of supervised contractor progress reports for incorporation into the overall consolidated status report.
  • Participate in the review of contract tender submissions during the execution of the 'Contract Development Program.
  • To facilitate the EXECUTE contract bid review process, where relevant, produce Level 1 / 2 bid check schedules.
  • Stipulate in the ITT's, the minimum required scheduling and progress reporting deliverables that are required.
  • Ensure that schedules show deliverables and payment milestones and interim steps to achieve them and verify that schedules are resource loaded and owner/IPMT/PDT review cycle is included.
  • Co-ordinate with the supervised contractor's planning teams to facilitate the development of their project specific monthly progress reporting format and content.
  • Develop and maintain a sample monthly report format to facilitate development of individual supervised contractor reporting output.
  • Collect, analyse and expedite the submission of monthly progress reports by the supervised contractors including resource histograms and physical progress curves (original, current, actual earned and forecast).
  • Report to owner; trends, concerns, opportunities & risks to recover or improve schedule.
  • Contribute towards the monthly report by providing schedule graphics (e.g. front lined Program Level 1 Schedule) and narrative for inclusion in the report.
  • Summarise progress reports into a standardised format for inclusion in a consolidated report.
  • Ensure periodic checks of supervised contractor progress reports, Earned Value and schedules are conducted.
  • Will develop a series of ad-hoc schedules to address project needs, in addition to the primary hierarchical structure of schedules that will be established through the life of the Program.
  • Develop and publicise a set of milestones dates for each significant phase of the project and in line with SMC Gate Reviews, in order to provide focus on the key milestone dates during the execution of the project.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A well rounded skillset in Planning working on large scale projects.
  • Ideally experience within Oil and Gas.
  • Experience of working with an IPMT would be ideal.
