Wood is recruiting for a Head of Process Engineering Discipline to drive the performance and ensure best practice standards across the Process function for the Systems Integration (SI) EMEA business, within our Digital Consulting business Unit. This is a hybrid role which can be based out of any of the following UK offices: Aberdeen, Glasgow, Northampton, Staines, or Reading. Please note applicants must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.

We have a large rolling wave of pipeline work of greater than £50M per annum, with multiple high profile blue chip clients, coupled with growth strategies to enter market areas such as Pharmaceutical and the Middle East. Whilst competing in these competitive markets, we need to become ever more efficient, utilising digital tools and innovative process to achieve our performance delivery targets.

You will work collaboratively within a high performing team of discipline engineers, offering your team the ability to participate and contribute to making EMEA SI a fully engaged and successfully recognised best practise team of key talent. Reporting into the Technical director for SI EMEA you will drive engineering excellence ensuring timely and quality delivery across all projects with your remit.

As the Leader of the Process Engineering discipline, you will be responsible for all aspects of resource management including; recruitment, workforce planning, development and coaching of your team; ensuring high performance delivery and an inclusive and collaborative culture. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Principal / Lead process engineer with some supervisionary experience who is looking for an opportunity to manage and develop a team and enable growth within a fast paced engineering environment.

Within SI, we are architecting our clients' digital ecosystems to be inherently safe, cybersecure and operable. We design and integrate operational technology to achieve business, production and operational goals.

Key Objectives for this role:

  • Delivers predictable outcomes for a significant portfolio of projects within Si EMEA, looking to grow from £50M annum to > £100M / annum revenue
  • To work as a key member of a high performing project engineering leadership team to transition the EMEA SI portfolio to a best-in-class project/programme/portfolio performance excellence status.
  • A highly collaborative approach to the management of a functional discipline to achieve the needs of the business.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with the anticipated levels of pressure and high performance with a job profile of this nature
  • Ability to challenge the norm and enhance/develop/deploy a suite of digital tools to ensure effective use of data and resources is a key deliverable for the role

What makes you remarkable?

  • Expected: ISCED Level 6 /Bachelors (minimum) or Level 7 /Masters (preferred) degree in relevant engineering discipline or equivalent professional experience
  • Knowledge & understanding across these fields: Focused on Process Industries, Process Simulation, P&ID Development, Process Optimisation, FMEA
  • Extensive broad and deep experience of engineering delivery across automation and controls projects in one or more relevant industry sectors
  • Expert level experience and understanding of discipline engineering tools and processes
  • Proven previous experience working within a fast-paced project environment
  • Broad understanding of the business drivers for relevant industry sector clients
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills at all levels of the business internal and external
  • Previous experience in managing a team of discipline engineers at all levels
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven Leadership and influencing skills
  • Delivery Focused Structured and organised work ethic
  • Embrace high performing team principles

Desirable:

  • Chartership with relevant professional body / Professional Engineer License or equivalent
