The Vice President, Short-Term Oils will play a pivotal role within our industry-leading Oil Markets team. This individual will lead our analysis and forecasting of short-term crude oil dynamics, integrating supply, demand, and price outlooks to deliver timely, actionable insight. Bringing deep expertise in oil fundamentals, the successful candidate will interpret market developments and deliver thought leadership that helps clients navigate an increasingly complex and interconnected energy landscape. They will develop and maintain strong relationships with senior executives across the industry, amplifying Wood Mackenzie’s influence and commercial success. Collaboration will be central — working closely with colleagues across Research, Product, Marketing, and Media to enhance the reach, relevance, and impact of our work.
Key responsibilities- Lead the production and delivery of short-term (~ 24 month) crude oil market analysis and forecasts, including ultimate accountability for the short-term global crude oil price forecast.
- Produce compelling, analytical, forward-looking thought-pieces that respond to and anticipate key developments in the oil sector.
- Build and manage relationships with senior clients and stakeholders to strengthen Wood Mackenzie’s market position and drive commercial outcomes.
- Represent Wood Mackenzie in the media and at major industry events, reinforcing our reputation as the most integrated and authoritative source of oil market intelligence.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of new products that enhance our short-term oil offering.
- Coach and mentor analysts to develop expertise and analytical excellence across the wider team.
The successful candidate will bring extensive experience in oil market analysis or commercial strategy, ideally gained within a major energy company, trading organisation, or a leading firm in research, analytics or related services. They will have:
- At least 10–15 years of relevant industry experience, with a strong understanding of oil supply and demand dynamics and pricing drivers.
- A proven track record of delivering market analysis and insight that informs strategic or trading decisions.
- Established senior relationships across the energy sector (c-suite, chief economist, ministry level) and credibility as a thought leader or subject matter expert.
- Strong communication skills, with experience presenting to senior executives, clients, and the media.
