Role Overview

This is a hybrid role, based in Edinburgh, where you will work closely with both the Web Development team and the Brand & Creative team to deliver outstanding digital experiences that improve customer satisfaction and drive engagement, while ensuring consistent adherence to our recently refreshed brand and visual identity. This role will be instrumental in delivering a strategic piece of work focused on personalisation, requiring deep understanding of user behaviour and data-driven design approaches.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Delivery & Execution
    • Design and deliver new digital experiences, components, and website features from concept through to final execution
    • Create high-fidelity designs, prototypes, and interactive mockups using Figma
    • Translate user needs and business requirements into compelling, user-centered design solutions
    • Ensure all digital touchpoints maintain consistency with the company’s recently refreshed brand and visual identity
    • Produce design specifications and assets ready for developer handoff
  • User Experience & Customer Journey Optimization
    • Access and analyse user data and behavioral insights to identify opportunities for enhancement across different user types and segments
    • Understand and map user behaviour patterns based on user type, stage in the customer lifecycle, and engagement level
    • Apply design strategies that guide users through the marketing funnel, from awareness through to conversion and retention
    • Conduct user journey mapping and identify friction points and opportunities for improvement
    • Use data-driven insights to inform design decisions and validate design solutions
    • Play a key role in delivering strategic personalization initiatives, designing tailored experiences for different user segments
    • Support the optimization of existing website components and functionality to enhance user satisfaction
    • Balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints in design solutions
  • Collaboration & Agile Working
    • Participate actively as part of an Agile web development squad comprising both in-house and agency resources
    • Work hands-on with developers to ensure designs are implemented effectively
    • Attend and contribute to regular sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
    • Iterate quickly on designs based on feedback and testing
  • Stakeholder Management & Recommendations
    • Liaise with stakeholders across the Marketing function, including Digital Marketing team, Performance team, Brand & Creative team, Product Marketing
    • Present design concepts and rationale to stakeholders
    • Provide data-driven recommendations for improvements to the digital experience
    • Incorporate feedback and balance multiple stakeholder needs

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Digital Designer with a strong portfolio demonstrating hands-on website design and delivery, preferably working within a global B2B organisation
  • Strong UX understanding with the ability to apply user-centered design principles to create effective customer journeys that help the organisation achieve its corporate goals
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma for design, prototyping, and collaboration
  • Strong visual design skills including typography, layout, color theory, and accessibility standards
  • Ability to design and deliver new digital experiences from initial concept through to production-ready files
  • Experience working within Agile methodologies and cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for stakeholder engagement
  • Experience optimizing existing components and working within design systems
  • Hands-on approach with the ability to move quickly from ideation to execution
  • Basic understanding of HTML/CSS and web development constraints
  • Motion design or micro-interaction design skills

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with AI tools for design, research, or optimization
  • Experience working with enterprise CMS platforms such as Optimizely, Sitecore or Adobe
  • Familiarity with design systems and component libraries
  • Familiarity with web experimentation tools
  • Experience with user research and testing methodologies
  • Understanding of web analytics and performance metrics
