Main Responsibilities

The Sponsorship Sales Manager is responsible for building value propositions to meet client needs, working with the sponsorship content and operations teams to meet both team and individual revenue targets. The role holder will manage a diverse portfolio of customers across key Wood Mackenzie markets. The portfolio includes four global commercial events running throughout the year, each mid‑sized with approximately 300–400 attendees over one to two days, as well as opportunities to extend relationships through custom webinars. In addition, the role includes sponsorship sales across WoodMackenzie’s award‑winning podcasts – EnergyGang and InterchangeRecharged – and other digital sponsorship opportunities. There is strong potential for growth across all product areas.

  • Achieve and exceed conference and individual sales targets, as agreed with the Head of Sponsorship Sales.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase market share.
  • Generate new business opportunities through networking, referrals, and digital outreach.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling proposals and presentations to prospective clients.
  • Maintain consistent client engagement through meetings and calls to support pipeline development.
  • Develop understanding of market trends and client needs to ensure value‑led selling.
  • Build and manage a strong sales pipeline, with accurate forecasting and reporting.
  • Develop and grow existing client relationships while securing new business within assigned territory.
  • Oversee smooth delivery of sponsorship contracts in collaboration with delivery teams.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records (Salesforce) and provide timely sales updates and insights.
  • Collaborate with entire sponsorship content and events team – act as the voice of the customer to support development of new and existing products.
  • Represent WoodMackenzie at industry events and through proactive outreach to grow the account base.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in B2B sales, sponsorship sales, media sales, or account management.
  • Strong track record of consistently achieving or exceeding revenue targets.
  • Experience managing the full sales cycle, from prospecting through to close.
  • Excellent presentation, pitching and proposal development skills.
  • Ability to engage, influence and build relationships with senior stakeholders and decision‑makers.
  • Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to understand client needs and market trends.
  • Experience working collaboratively across internal teams in a matrix environment.
  • Highly organised with strong CRM experience (e.g. Salesforce) and accurate pipeline management.
  • Confident networker with strong relationship‑building skills.
  • Self‑motivated, proactive, and thrives in a target‑driven environment.
