Location: UK Teesside (Site‑based with call‑out requirements)
Contract Type: Initial 6 Months
Industry: Industrial / Energy / Maintenance
Hours: 38 Hrs P/W with possibility of overtime, call‑outs, breakdown response, and outage support
About the Role: Wood is seeking an experienced Pipe Welder to join our maintenance team, supporting ongoing plant operations, emergency breakdowns, and planned outages. This is a hands‑on role requiring flexibility, technical skill, and the ability to work safely in challenging environments including confined spaces and working at heights. You will be responsible for delivering high‑quality welds across carbon and stainless-steel systems using TIG and MMA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform high‑quality pipe welding using TIG and MMA across carbon and stainless-steel materials.
- Support maintenance call‑outs, breakdown repairs, and emergency response activities.
- Deliver welding work during planned outages, shutdowns, and maintenance windows.
- Carry out welding on boiler tubes, pressure systems, and high‑integrity pipework.
- Work safely in confined spaces, at heights, and in other high‑risk environments.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, weld procedures, and specifications.
- Ensure all work meets required quality standards and passes inspection.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and consumables to a high standard.
- Follow all site safety rules, permits, and risk controls.
About You:
- Proven experience as a Pipe Welder in industrial, energy, or maintenance environments.
- Strong competency in TIG and MMA welding on carbon and stainless steel.
- Experience welding boiler tubes and high‑integrity pipework.
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights.
- Flexible and reliable, with the ability to support overtime, call‑outs, and breakdowns.
- Strong safety awareness and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
- Relevant welding qualifications/coding’s (advantageous).
