Wood is recruiting a Senior Drilling Engineer to support our client’s Operations and Maintenance team on a contract basis.

Responsibilities

  • You will diligently plan, engineer, organise, support and report on the client’s well operations and well abandon operations in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner, achieving technical objectives by applying accepted engineering practices.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the planning of exploration and development and abandonment projects providing technical inputs to the project teams, in order to optimise cost on well operations.
  • Ensure full adherence to the well examination and the safety case 2015 new regulation.
  • Provide advice in reviewing the scope of work and technical specifications.
  • Providing advice and technical specifications during pre-qualification and tender evaluation phases in order to ensure that the choice of contractors and suppliers fully meet with technical targets and company standards.
  • Supply well operations cost estimates for future operations budget, with probabilistic and deterministic approach, and current operations Authorisation for Expenditure (AFE), ensuring the reliability of the data provided.
  • Prepare risk assessment of the operations together with HSE Department.
  • Appraise new technology products to determine their applications in client’s well operations and abandonment operations, in order to improve time cost performance and safety conditions.
  • Prepare all relevant documents for well operations and abandonment requested by regulatory bodies.
  • Prepare and review the drilling and abandonment programs and final reports and ensure technical analysis of the operations as per SMS and corporate requirements. Ensure that an auditable trail exists.
  • Provide engineering advice in the operations follow up.
  • Assist the Operations Support Manager in contacts with partners and regulatory bodies providing necessary documentation and reports.
  • Review of client no operated activities with the same level of attention as for operated activities.
  • Review and update all Well operations procedures and manuals in order to ensure compliance with company policies and current legislation.
  • Update technical improvements and suggest appropriate materials/equipment (e.g. drilling bits, downhole tools, motors, etc).
  • To ensure full adherence to the Company’s Health, Safety and Environment policies, procedures and standards.

Expected:

  • Engineering/Science based qualifications with numerate skills.
  • Significant well Engineering training and experience.
  • Specific knowledge of drilling related topics.
  • General knowledge of associated disciplines i.e. Geology, Petroleum Engineering and Reservoir Operational wellsite experience.
  • Good operating knowledge of Microsoft Suite.
  • IWCF (international well control forum).
  • Valid BOSIET.
