Wood is recruiting for an Operational Controller to join its Asset Management and Operational Services (AMOS) group within our Clean Energy division based in Glasgow.

The role manages the day-to-day work control process across the wind, battery storage and solar portfolio on a 24 hour, 7 days a week, 365 day a year as part of a shift rotation.

The Role

This role has the responsibility for ensuring that all operational activities across the portfolio of renewable energy assets are co-ordinated, controlled and monitored to maximise safe and effective operations in accordance with Wood procedures, Wind Turbine Safety Rules and other grid / regulatory requirements.

The individual is responsible for real – time energy trading updates and coordinating with the Energy Management operational control desk to maximize output.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities:

  • Ensure safe, efficient and compliant operation of the wind, Battery and Solar portfolio
  • Remote re-setting of faults to maximise energy capture across the portfolio
  • Responsible for the Transfer of Control of the Wind Turbine Generator Plant and/or LV Apparatus, under the Wind Turbine Safety Rules (WTSR)
  • Real-time updating of energy trading related IT systems
  • Interface with the Energy Management operational control desk to ensure the optimal output
  • Monitor site SCADA & CCTV systems to ensure that safe operational conditions are maintained
  • In the event of emergency situations, initiation of appropriate response procedures
  • Receive and initiate instructions as required from the Transmission and Distribution Network operators
  • Help to ensure that only competent persons are approved for working on the wind, battery and solar assets
  • Act as emergency contact on all Operational sites in the event of an emergency and initiate the relevant emergency procedure
  • Control work orders for routine and non-routine maintenance work
  • Ensure that training records and medical records for those that are permitted to climb turbines on Energy sites are correct and up to date
  • To assist with other H&S or Operational duties as required

Expected:
