PSJ Fabrications, a Wood subsidiary company is recruiting for a Quality Manager to join our Sheet Metal Fabrication team based in Bedford.The Role This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for safeguarding and enhancing the company’s quality management systems, maintaining key industry certifications, driving operational quality excellence, and ensuring compliance within highly regulated sectors. Proven experience operating within a regulated manufacturing environment is essential.The successful candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership to the Quality and Inspection function, working collaboratively with Operations, Engineering, Production, and Commercial teams to ensure that products, processes, and systems consistently meet customer expectations, regulatory obligations, and business objectives. Expected:HNC/HND or Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Management, or related disciplineLead Auditor qualification (ISO 9001 or equivalent)Thorough understanding of quality management systems and manufacturing quality principlesPrevious experience in a Quality Management leadership roleProven experience within a highly regulated manufacturing environmentStrong background in sheet metal fabrication, welding, precision engineering, or associated manufacturing sectorsExperience maintaining ISO 9001 certificationExperience managing external certification and customer auditsExperience leading quality improvement programmes and reducing non-conformanceExperience managing quality engineering activities including PFMEA and Control PlansExperience in calibration management systemsExperience leading and developing quality and inspection teamsProven track record of improving business KPI performancePreferred:Nuclear industry experienceWorking knowledge of RCC-M requirementsExperience with EN ISO 3834 complianceExperience with EN 1090 execution classesKnowledge of welding quality systems and special process controlExperience supporting Defence, Aerospace, Energy, Rail, or similarly regulated sectorsFormal Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or Continuous Improvement qualificationsChartered Quality Professional status or equivalentSix Sigma Green Belt or Black BeltCQI membershipWelding or fabrication-related qualificationsThe Key Objective of this role are: Quality Management Systems:Maintain and improve ISO 9001, ISO 14001, EN ISO 3834, and EN 1090 management systemsLead certification and internal audits, ensuring compliance with quality standards and customer requirementsDrive corrective actions and continuous improvement initiativesQuality Performance & KPI Management:Manage and improve key quality metrics, including RFT, NCRs, COPQ, Supplier Quality, OTIF, and Customer ComplaintsMonitor performance, conduct root cause analysis, and implement improvement actionsQuality Engineering & Process Control:Develop and maintain PFMEAs and Control PlansSupport new product introduction, process improvements, risk management, and defect reduction initiativesInspection & Calibration:Oversee inspection, testing, product release, and conformity verification activitiesManage calibration systems and ensure traceability of measuring equipmentCustomer & Supplier Quality:Serve as the main quality contact for customers and suppliersLead audits, investigate quality issues, and drive timely resolution of complaints and non-conformancesTeam Leadership:Lead, coach, and develop the Quality and Inspection teamPromote a culture of quality excellence, accountability, and continuous improvementRegulatory & Industry Compliance:Ensure compliance with nuclear and other highly regulated industry requirements, including RCC-M, weld quality, traceability, and configuration control where applicableFull timePosting Date:
