Wood is recruiting a Principal Structural Engineer with brownfield Oil & Gas experience to support our current modifications portfolio with one of our major UK North Sea clients on a contract basis. The role will be hybrid working and will require a minimum of 3 days per week in the Aberdeen Office.
The modifications portfolio consists of the following types of scopes:
- Concept/Define Studies
- Rolling programme of Flowline & Well Hook-Up Scopes
- Production Enhancement Improvements
- Carbon Reduction Scopes
- Anomalies & Repair Order scopes
Primary focus of the role is to provide structural engineering expertise to the project team. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the structural team, providing design expertise to ensure delivery of projects to tight timescales in accordance with Client expectations. The individual will be expected to work largely under his/her own direction and will report to the contract Lead Structural Engineer.
Wood is currently growing their project and modification portfolio of key EPCC opportunities spanning 3-5 years longevity. This will include projects in full lifecycles ranging from early Study / FEED into detail design which will cover sectors within the O&G, renewable energy, pharmaceutical and chemicals. Responsibilities:
- Provision of structural engineering expertise input to projects
- Define structural engineering requirements for technical scopes
- Development of deliverables and documentation for use in offshore construction workpacks
- Prepare purchase requisitions for the procurement of structural fabrications/special items
- Ability/expertise to undertake engineering checking & approvals
- Provide support to the Lead Structural Engineer
- Provide support for interdisciplinary considerations through attendance at design reviews and IDC checking
- Execute facility engineering design in accordance with applicable codes and standards
- Carry out work in accordance with company and project Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality systems
- Provide discipline specific guidance and coordinate delivery with remote team members in Global Execution Centres

Expected:
- MSc, MEng or BSc, BEng or equivalent with extensive relevant experience.
- Familiar with technical direction and control of brownfield Oil & Gas engineering projects.
- Chartered Engineer Status preferred but not essential.

- Technically competent in own discipline and actively maintains own competence according to engineering council requirements and pursues continuous professional development
- Ensure self-awareness of relevant regulatory framework, legislation changes, initiatives and industry developments and promote knowledge sharing to direct reports
- Supporting and supervising tasks delegated to direct reports inclusive of remote work centres
- Experience developing CTRs/MTOs for estimating. Ability to prepare input to project plans and progress reporting
- Coaching and mentoring of direct reports as delegated
