Wood is recruiting for Project Managers on a permanent staff and contract basis with Capital Projects Portfolio management experience in Biotechnology / Pharmaceutical Projects. This is a site-based role, working at the client operating facility based at Irvine on the West Coast of Scotland.
The Role
You will assure delivery excellence across assigned projects / portfolio, provide certainty and confidence to the client/project sponsor, and robust control of project scope, schedule, cost and risk. Manages and coordinates a team of project personnel to manage a client portfolio of site projects. This includes responsibility for safe delivery, ensuring that quality, schedule, and cost/budget targets are met and for managing the associated risk. Responsible for delivery of portfolio to agreed client specifications and regulatory requirements, managing change and client relationships, and ensuring appropriate reporting and governance is in place. Accountable for delivering client satisfaction across their portfolio adding value to the site through predictable delivery.

Our current portfolio includes green hydrogen and fuel switching, as well as supporting local clients with energy transition. Additionally, we work on UK refineries, petrochemical facilities, fine chemicals and pharmaceutical facilities. We have a number of clients who we are working with to design their pilot plants to test exciting new technologies, with a view to partnering with them as they move to design and build full scale commercial facilities.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for delivery of Engineering Capital Projects including direct and indirect resource
- Responsible for hosting monthly progress meetings with stakeholder input and direction
- Ownership and timely closure of CAPAs, PRs and Compliance Actions to maintain Green Site Compliance for all Capital Team
- Responsible for ensuring team training is up to date and project team are competent to carry out assigned work
- Support engineering in attendance to Ops Planning meetings (including preparation of slides)
- Engage and work with functions for the requirement of capital project delivery
- Review and submit funding requests for site capital projects and manage variations prior to submission as well as prepare and issue for review
- Project-based management of resources for Capital Projects
- Maintaining and adherence to capital PMO client processes and procedures (support adherence and improvements)
- Support EPCM Manager on planning year on year capital portfolio
- Review of monthly performance report (prepared by Project Controls Team)
- Review and progress resource requirements for capital project delivery
- Works with the EPCM Manager, Construction Manager and Project Controls team as part of the Capital Projects Management Team

- University degree in relevant discipline
- Project Management Professional (PMP), Associate in Project Management (APM) or equivalent certification is preferred but not essential
- Significant experience in the related field, industry, and locations of the work
- Proven project management experience as well as a good understanding of business and commercial issues
- Thorough understanding of project management techniques and practices
- Thorough understanding of project goals, drivers and strategies
- Experience of developing and implementing measures of success and benefits on several projects
- Knowledge of prioritising stakeholders and the development of stakeholder management plans
- Has interfaced with key stakeholders on projects to obtain, create and maintain requirements and acceptance criteria on several occasions
- Good knowledge of industry and company risk management processes. Well versed in qualitative assessment methods and some knowledge of quantitative assessment techniques
- Able to use common estimating techniques to derive estimates and costs on standard projects
- Good knowledge of contract models, conditions, types and their suitability in different situations
- Able to deliver effective project initiation on multi-phase projects and produce project execution plans
- Well versed in international and company quality assurance standards
- Knowledge of commercial and contract conditions applicable to the procurement of various types of goods and services
- In-depth knowledge of scheduling techniques, their properties and uses
- Good knowledge and experience in project monitoring and forecasting
- Ability to manage change control process on project with several sub-contractors and interfaces
- In-depth knowledge of all types of project information (deliverables) and its uses and capable of managing information management project team
- Good knowledge of all handover and close-out activities required for customer, company and suppliers
- Understanding of Cash Flow management as well as projection/forecast of cost at completion
