Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Process Engineer to join the Technical Team on our SAGE Gas Terminal Duty Holder contract at Sir Ian Wood House, Aberdeen, UK on a permanent staff basis. Wood provides all operational and engineering support to the SAGE Terminal and Pipeline, which we operate on behalf of Ancala Midstream Ltd. The Technical Team provide process engineering and process safety support, as well as conducting feasibility studies and new business evaluations with the client.

The successful candidate will act as Senior Process Engineer on the Terminal, reporting to the Process TA, and have responsibility for the process engineering support activities required by the Terminal. You will be joining a close-knit team dedicated to achieving safe, compliant and reliable operations at the SAGE Terminal and Pipeline. We are actively involved with our client in securing new business and implementing energy transition opportunities. We are looking for an engineer with the drive and commitment to maintain and improve on our excellent performance and client relationship. Applicants with strong technical and communication skills are welcome. The Senior Engineer is also expected and supported to continue their development at SAGE or within the wider Wood organisation.

  • Chemical Engineering Degree
  • Chartered Chemical Engineer status (or working towards)
  • Experience providing process engineering support to operations within the Oil & Gas or petrochemicals sectors
  • Proven core Process Engineering skills, including design experience
  • Experience in process safety and risk management would be advantageous
  • A self-motivated, proactive individual with high achievement drive and initiative, excellent verbal and written communication skills and good organisational awareness
  • Ability to impact and influence fellow workers
  • Demonstration of customer focus and ability to respond to customer needs whilst achieving operational and corporate objectives
  • Display analytical and problem-solving skills to understand operational issues
  • Execute process engineering activities in support of Terminal operations
  • Work closely and build relationships with the Engineering and Operations Teams
  • Supervise and check work of the wider Process Team as appropriate
  • Ensure that design methods, standards and data used conform with Client's requirements and / or those issued by Wood
  • Ensure a high standard of safety is achieved and Environmental and Quality Assurance procedures are followed
  • Perform safety related calculations and provide input to HAZOP, SIL and other safety reviews as directed
  • Custodian of the plant computer-based models, including HYSYS models and pipeline composition tracker.
  • Carry out simulations to investigate operational issues, plant optimisation and new business evaluation
  • Responsible for implementing Process Safety and Risk Management processes including KPIs and monthly reporting
  • Follow Management of Change process, supporting and owning modifications as appropriate
  • Lead or support technical and incident investigations as appropriate
  • Review and update Engineering Procedures as required
  • Prepare and check process calculations in accordance with Wood procedures
  • Contribute where necessary to review of supplier quotations
  • Participate in technical meetings and handle discussions with the client as required
  • Review operating procedures and P&IDs
  • Deputising for Process TA.
