Wood is seeking an experienced Construction Planner to join our site‑based project team, in Clitheroe, Lancashire on a 12 month PSC basis. This position is required full time, on-site 5 days per week.

The role:

You will play a critical role in developing, maintaining and optimising construction schedules, ensuring the project is planned, coordinated and executed safely, efficiently and in line with client and company expectations. This role requires strong capability in Primavera P6, excellent communication skills and a deep understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing and site execution.

Responsibilities
  • P6 Schedule Development - Build, maintain and update detailed construction schedules in Primavera P6, ensuring logic, sequencing and progress are accurately represented.
  • Construction Planning - Develop short‑term and long‑term plans, integrating construction methods, resource requirements, constraints and interfaces.
  • Subcontractor Schedule Review - Review, challenge and approve subcontractor schedules to ensure alignment with project requirements, logic, sequencing and overall programme objectives.
  • Progress Measurement - Track progress against the baseline, analyse variances and provide clear, actionable insights to the project team.
  • Look‑Ahead Planning - Produce weekly and monthly look‑ahead plans to support site execution and ensure schedule alignment with construction priorities.
  • Interface Coordination - Work closely with engineering, construction, procurement and subcontractors to ensure schedule accuracy and coordination.
  • Scenario & Impact Analysis - Perform what‑if analysis, assess schedule impacts and support decision‑making for changes, delays or emerging risks.
  • Reporting - Prepare clear, concise planning reports, dashboards and updates for site management and client stakeholders.
  • Site Engagement - Engage daily with construction teams to validate progress, understand constraints and ensure planning reflects real‑time site conditions.

  • Primavera P6 proficiency - Strong capability in building, maintaining and analysing complex construction schedules.
  • Strong NEC4 experience, specifically clause 31&32 adherence
  • Extensive experience of civil/structural, E&I and piping scheduling
  • Working understanding of MS Office 365 packages including MS Project
  • Construction planning experience - Proven background in planning major construction projects (industrial, energy, infrastructure or similar).
  • Experience reviewing and approving subcontractor schedules, ensuring compliance with project logic and programme requirements.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, workface planning, resource loading and constraint management.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, construction work packs and technical documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with site teams, management and client representatives.
  • A proactive, detail‑driven approach with strong analytical and problem‑solving capability.
