Wood Operations is recruiting for a Commissioning Manager to join its Commissioning team to effectively manage the overall delivery of strategic multi-disciplinary projects. This role will primarily be based within a local Wood office and has the ability to be worked on a hybrid basis.

The Role

  • Reporting to the Commissioning Operations Manager, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise within Wood Commissioning and supporting internal functions in the delivery of services to our clients, including but not limited to:
  • Support delivery of Wood Commissioning strategy and objectives in provision of its services to clients.
  • Support development of completions and commissioning strategy and support G&D in securing new work and growing the Wood commissioning business.
  • Support development of proposals ensuring technical content meets RFP requirements and demonstrates Wood Commissioning capability to the highest standard.
  • Play an active role in ensuring all Wood and project HSSE goals are achieved and where possible exceeded.
  • Implement a continuous improvement philosophy across the commissioning function, delivering best practices.

Project

  • Deliver a high standard commissioning service to projects, ensuring a consistent and efficient approach is always implemented.
  • Ensure the highest priority is always placed on HSSE and all commissioning personnel are provided with a safe working environment.
  • Ensure all commissioning personnel are aware of and implement safe working practices / procedures.
  • Maintain and deliver the commissioning function within budget and on schedule - where applicable implement cost / time saving initiatives.
  • Manage, support and develop commissioning personnel.

Primary Function (Corporate and Project)

  • Responsible for the delivery of Modification Contracts / Projects held within Commissioning or within other areas of Wood.
  • Work alongside other Corporate Commissioning Leadership team members in delivering the business strategy.
  • P & L responsibility with associated commercial and financial accountability including revenue delivery, margin and overhead management, budget and forecast determination and attainment, risk and opportunity reviews, cost controls, accounts payable/billing and cash collection.
  • Operate as Pursuit Lead for future opportunities coordinating multi-discipline teams.
  • Take part in business pipeline reviews.
  • Accountable for the development and on-going management of the project commissioning team and interfacing with other project departmental managers, the client and vendors / sub-contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Development and on-going management of the project commissioning team and interfacing with other project departmental managers, the client and vendors / sub-contractors.
  • Ensuring all commissioning activities are carried out in accordance with Wood and project procedures in a safe, environmentally responsible manner.
  • Delivery of commissioning activities in accordance with the project schedule and budget.
  • Ensuring high standards of commissioning are maintained and continuously improved.
  • Provision of technical expertise and experience into the development of Wood commissioning business strategy and objectives.
  • Provision of technical expertise into the development of high-quality proposals including development of technical write-up and estimates.
  • Managing and directing the commissioning team and personnel in the safe and structured delivery of the project commissioning scope of work, ensuring all agreed objectives / KPI's are delivered.
  • Continually striving to improve / develop the commissioning process and practices.
  • Managing the commissioning budget and costs.
  • Ensuring all necessary sub-contracts, vendor contracts and other support are in place.
  • Ensuring all necessary training to commissioning personnel is provided to assure all personnel are competent and hold the necessary level of qualifications / skills.
  • Ensuring the commissioning organisation is provided with the correct PPE, equipment and tools in order to execute all workscopes in a safe and effective manner.
  • Auditing / reviewing of the project commissioning process ensuring where applicable recommendations implemented.
  • Third party verification body liaison.
  • Maintaining the commissioning project schedule / cost deliverables.
  • Interfacing with the client representatives as required.

  • Time served relevant trade discipline, or relevant NVQ / SVQ / HNC / HND (or equivalent).
  • Degree (or equivalent) in engineering discipline an advantage.
  • Significant relevant completion and commissioning experience.
  • Oil and gas experience advantageous or proven track record in industry with transferable skills.
  • Exposure to working within a technical environment.
  • Experience of people management within a Lead role.
  • Fully conversant with regards to discipline technical knowledge.
  • Proven experience of interpreting discipline documentation.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of Risk Assessments (RA), Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPS) and Hazard Identification Studies (HAZIDS).
  • Ability to advise system and subsystem priorities within construction activities with a view to achieving early handover.
  • Provide leadership in promoting, demonstrating and being a role model in accordance with company core values, ethics policy, leadership framework and PCE.
  • Can demonstrate good understanding of company standards, processes and procedures and how they are used in work execution.
  • Progressively demonstrate a level of appreciation of the work executed in relevant discipline and level of knowledge of technology within discipline area.
  • Ability to monitor work progress and report against the plan.
