Wood is recruiting for a Finance Systems Enterprise Architect with a focus on managing all aspects of accounting for the UK region. The role holder is accountable for developing and implementing finance technology architecture to improve reporting speed, accuracy, and insights while reducing costs and supporting business goals. This is a role that can be predominantly remote with attendance at the following UK offices for meetings and reviews: Aberdeen, Reading and Knutsford. Please note applicants must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.
The role holder is responsible for ensuring that all Finance technology solutions are designed as a holistic, integrated, scalable and supportable enterprise architecture, delivering consistent financial information, high levels of automation, robust controls and efficient end-to-end business processes. The role provides technical leadership across multiple concurrent implementation programmes, ensuring that individual projects contribute to a coherent long-term target architecture, avoiding the creation of additional complexity or technical debt.

Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and govern the target-state Finance Systems Architecture across all Finance applications, ensuring alignment with the Group's Digital Finance Strategy, Enterprise Architecture standards, and long-term technology roadmap.
- Design and govern system integrations between Oracle R12 (Voyager and Orbis), OneStream, Kyriba, Emburse, Neeyamo, BlackLine, Supplier Master Data, Azolve (invoice automation), Payroll Benefits, Oracle Time & Labour, Aveva ERM, and other finance-related applications.
- Ensure Finance processes are designed holistically across Record-to-Report, Procure-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash, Project Accounting, Treasury, Payroll, Tax, Statutory, Management, and Enterprise Performance Management Reporting.
- Define and govern Finance data architecture, including ownership, quality standards, reference data, Chart of Accounts, Supplier Master Data, organisational structures, and common data definitions.
- Design solutions that preserve the integrity, completeness, and auditability of financial data across all system interfaces.
- Establish architecture principles, standards, design patterns, and review processes across all Finance technology projects.
- Identify opportunities to simplify Finance processes through automation, workflow optimisation, standardisation, and elimination of non-value-adding activities.
- Ensure all Finance solutions are scalable, secure, supportable, and maintainable.
- Provide architectural leadership throughout programme delivery, ensuring solution designs are effectively translated into implementation, testing, deployment, and operational support.
- Provide technical oversight of implementation partners and software vendors.
- Ensure Finance Systems Architecture supports evolving regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a multi-year Finance Systems roadmap, identifying future enhancements, technical debt reduction opportunities, platform optimisation initiatives, and emerging technologies.
- Work with Cyber Security colleagues to identify and mitigate cyber risks across the Finance application suite.
- Ensure the Finance Systems Architecture is fully documented, understood, and successfully transitioned to the Group's managed services partner.
Qualifications:
- Expert knowledge of Oracle Financials, particularly Oracle R12 and/or Oracle Cloud.
- Strong experience designing complex enterprise integration architectures involving APIs, middleware, batch processing, messaging technologies and event-driven integration patterns.
- Extensive understanding of Finance data architecture, master data management, reference data, chart of accounts design and enterprise data governance.
- Demonstrated experience designing highly automated Finance processes that improve efficiency while strengthening governance and internal controls.
- Professional architecture certification (e.g. TOGAF, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect).
- Oracle Financials certification or equivalent.
- Oil, Gas or Energy Experience essential.
- Substantive understanding of accounting principles, or accounting qualification preferred.
