Wood has an opportunity for a Lead Planning Engineer in Reading on an Agency basis. This is a challenging role where you will have the opportunity to develop EPC schedules and run schedule risk analysis during the FEED phase of the project.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in one or more of the following: upstream oil and gas, midstream, LNG, refining, petrochemicals, chemicals, and power industries.
Previous Experience:
- 15 years industry experience
- 5 years leadership experience
- Minimum 2 years site construction experience
- Previous planning experience, responsible for a large sized project or large sized sub-element of a major project
- Previous experience in controlling, directing, supervising and managing the day-to-day activities of a planning team
- Experience of working with other offices and high value execution centres
- A proven track record in FEED and EPC phases of refinery, oil & gas, petrochemical or similar facilities including revamp projects
A pro-active approach to solving problems and getting the job done is essential. The candidate should be self-motivated, energetic, and tenacious with excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels up to top management.
IT/Computer Literacy: In particular Primavera P6 and Microsoft Excel.

Review and understand all relevant project documentation including scope of services, project execution plan, proposal/project schedule (including manpower projection plan), WBS, conditions of contract. Work within the standard planning/scheduling procedures. Prepare activity plans to accomplish all work required. Liaise with Client Project Control personnel as necessary.
Ensure the timely preparation and issue of EPC schedules. Lead schedule review meetings with the project team including schedule development and schedule risk workshops as required. Develop Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for EPC execution & packages for review and agreement. Developed EPC schedule for each of the identified EPC packages as per the agreed Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and execution strategy for EPC implementation.
The schedules shall be developed using Primavera P6 (Version 18). Develop resource-based, construction and commissioning driven EPC schedules, through integration of all activities related to detailed engineering, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning.
Carry out “Schedule Risk Analysis” of the EPC schedule based on the Monte Carlo Model using Primavera Risk Analysis software. Submit a “Risk Analysis Report” along with recommendations with regard to EPC duration. Develop payment milestones based on EPC schedule. Assess the EPC cost estimate risk similar to EPC Schedule Risk Analysis. Perform the Integrated EPC Cost and Schedule Risk Analysis to demonstrate Schedule P80 and Cost P50 confidence factor. Develop Integrated Cost and Schedule Risk Analysis procedure.
