Our Retail team is central to supporting this, raising the vital funds which allow our teams to continue to work directly with pet owners, communities and partner organisations to improve pet welfare, strengthen communities and prevent unnecessary pet relinquishment.

We’re looking for an experienced and ambitious retail leader to manage our new Charity Superstore in Huntingdon.

This is more than a shop management role—it's an opportunity to lead one of our largest retail operations, inspire a team of staff and volunteers, and work closely with colleagues across Retail, Fundraising and Communications to help raise the profile of the store through creative marketing, community engagement and exciting events.

Taking full responsibility for the day-to-day operation and commercial success of our high-volume superstore, our successful applicant will lead an enthusiastic team of Assistant Shop Managers and volunteers, ensuring that the store delivers exceptional standards of customer service, merchandising and stock management while achieving ambitious sales and income targets.

As someone who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment, you will enjoy developing people, and will have a passion for delivering outstanding customer experiences. You will;

  • Drive sales, profitability and Gift Aid income to achieve agreed targets.
  • Manage stock flow, merchandising and product presentation to maximise sales.
  • Support the distribution of donated stock across our retail network.
  • Plan and deliver engaging in-store events, VIP shopping evenings and seasonal campaigns.
  • Develop a strong local marketing presence, including social media activity and community partnerships.
  • Monitor KPIs and use performance data to drive continuous improvement.

With significant experience within charity retail or a comparable retail environment you will have experience leading, coaching and developing high-performing teams and a passion for working with volunteers and creating an inclusive team culture.

  • If you have;
  • Strong commercial awareness and experience managing sales and budgets.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Confidence using Microsoft 365 or similar systems.
  • The ability to balance competing priorities in a busy retail environment.

We would love to hear from you!

This is a full time, permanent position with a salary of £29,250 per annum. A flexible approach to working will be required as the shop is open seven days per week.

  • This competitive salary will be complemented by;
  • 36 days annual leave per year (inclusive of bank holidays) rising by 1 day each year to a maximum of 40 days after five years
  • Up to 8% employer pension contributions
  • Support towards healthcare costs (cashplan)
  • Employee wellbeing package to include free access to Headspace
  • Life assurance (4x salary)
  • Enhanced parental leave (subject to qualifying period)
  • Benefits hub – exclusive discounts on popular brands
  • 25% discount in our charity shops

Due to the nature of this role there will be an element of manual handling and physical activity involved.

You may also be required to work alone from time to time.

For this reason we are unable to accept applications from anyone under the age of 18.

Early application is encouraged as this position may close sooner than the stated deadline if a suitable candidate is found. Interviews may commence prior to the closing date.

Please note that this role is subject to a range of pre-employment checks to include a DBS check.

You will also need to have existing Right to Work in the UK to apply for this opportunity as we are unable to provide visa sponsorship.

Woodgreen is committed to making our recruitment processes accessible to all and, as part of this, we are flexible in the ways we give and receive information.

If you would like to apply using a different format, please contact the Recruitment Team and we will do our best to put any reasonable adjustments in place.
