Registered Sleep Technician / Neurology / Full Time / Nights

The Registered Sleep Tech provides safe, accurate, and age-appropriate sleep diagnostic and therapeutic services. This role includes preparing patients and equipment, performing and monitoring sleep studies, analyzing and scoring data, and adjusting care as needed, while maintaining professionalism, patient confidentiality, and collaboration with the healthcare team. The Registered Sleep Tech is an onsite position.

Essential Functions

  • Provide age-appropriate, patient-centered care and education to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and their families throughout the sleep testing process.
  • Prepare patients and equipment for sleep studies by selecting, calibrating, and applying electrodes, sensors, and PAP devices in accordance with established standards and protocols.
  • Perform routine, non-routine, and complex sleep study procedures within scope of practice, including PSG recordings, PAP titrations, MSLT testing, seizure studies, REM behavior studies, oxygen titrations, and scoring of all records.
  • Analyze and interpret sleep testing data accurately and in a timely manner, utilizing critical thinking to modify patient care based on ongoing assessments and patient response.
  • Integrate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team while maintaining professionalism, patient confidentiality, and regulatory compliance, responding appropriately to emergencies, participating in staff orientation, and maintaining required competencies and continuing education.
  • Prepare, prevent, protect and respond to support our culture of safety.
  • Works hours per week in accordance with offer letter or per attributes of position at transfer request. May be expected to work longer hours as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education: Graduate of an approved Polysomnographic Technologist program

License: Registered through Board of Registered Polysomnography Technologist Program

Experience: Two (2) years of sleep testing including pediatrics and adults

Certification:

  • BLS
  • If a Registered Respiratory Therapist
    • ACLS
    • PALS
    • NRP

Preferred

Education: Associates degree

License: Respiratory Care through Ohio Medical Board

Experience: Hospital based testing center

Certification: Registered through the National Board of Respiratory Care
