The Registered Respiratory Therapist provides high-quality, evidence-based respiratory care to patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions. The Registered Respiratory Therapist collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes through assessment, treatment, monitoring of clinical responses, emergency response, and provide education to promote recovery, improved quality of life and long-term health outcomes. This is an onsite position.

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct thorough respiratory assessments, collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team and/or Medical Director to develop individualized treatment plans, and evaluate patient responses to therapies.
  • Deliver respiratory treatments and rehabilitation regimens, ensuring patient safety, exercise tolerance, and clinical effectiveness.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as necessary.
  • Perform diagnostic tests (e.g., blood gas analysis) and provide emergency interventions such as CPR, airway management, and mechanical ventilation when needed.
  • Educate patients, families, and healthcare teams on disease management, lifestyle modifications, respiratory care practices, and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation.
  • Manage program logistics, including scheduling, equipment, insurance, and communication with healthcare providers to ensure seamless care during hospitalization and post-discharge.
  • Prepare, prevent, protect and respond to support our culture of safety.
  • Work hours per week in accordance with offer letter or per attributes of position at transfer request. May be expected to work longer hours as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Education: Associate degree in respiratory therapy from a CoARC approved program
  • License: Ohio licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) through the Ohio State Medical Board
  • Experience: None
  • Certification: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentialed through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), BLS within 90 days of hire, ACLS within 90 days of hire, PALS within 90 days of hire, NRP within 90 days of hire

Preferred:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in respiratory therapy or related healthcare field
  • Experience: One (1) year of acute care experience and/or Two (2) years in Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation.
