Role overview
We are seeking an experienced Part 2 architectural assistant or junior Part 3 (around two to three years’ professional experience) to join our specialist London studio working in an exciting and growing sector of architecture. This is a broad architectural role offering involvement in projects from early concept and planning through to technical design and construction. The successful candidate will be jumping straight into a project at Stage 4, assisting a senior architect with the development of coordinated drawing and detailing packages. In the medium to longer term, you will be working across all stages of work, from concept through to completion, gaining rare exposure and responsibility. This is a genuine opportunity to develop specialist expertise in a niche field, contribute meaningfully to a range of projects, and grow under the direct guidance of experienced team leads and architects, in a studio where your input is visible and valued.
Responsibilities
- Contributing across RIBA Stages 0-3, including feasibility studies, site and context analysis, option development, concept design and spatial coordination.
- Supporting with the delivery of planning applications, presentations and other Stage 0-3 design information.
- Developing architectural drawings, models and presentation material under the direction of project architects and team leads.
- Assisting with Stage 4 drawing and detailing packages, including plans, sections, elevations, schedules and construction details using Revit.
- Exploring agreed materials and construction systems and developing them into coordinated architectural information.
- Researching materials, products, precedents and regulatory requirements to inform design decisions as schemes develop.
- Incorporating information from consultants and specialists into architectural drawings and models, and raising gaps, conflicts or uncertainties with the senior architect.
- Maintaining accurate and consistent project information within Revit.
- Supporting design-team meetings, technical reviews and site visits, and assisting the project lead during Stage 5 with contractor and site queries, recording actions and updating architectural drawings and information where required.
- Managing assigned tasks and communicating progress, questions and concerns clearly to the wider team.
Person specification:
- Part 2 qualification or equivalent and two to three years’ experience within architectural practice, ideally some of which was spent working on projects at RIBA Stage 4.
- Experience working on projects across more than one RIBA work stage.
- An interest in materials, construction and how different building elements come together and a developing understanding of buildability, interfaces, tolerances and sequencing.
- A working knowledge of UK Building Regulations and relevant technical requirements.
- Demonstrable experience using Revit. Experience using Rhino, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite and AI tools is preferable.
- A collaborative approach and the confidence to ask questions, test ideas and raise concerns when information is unclear.
- Excellent spoken, written and graphic communication skills.
