We are seeking a Junior Data Engineer to support the design, development, and maintenance of our data platform within the Microsoft Fabric environment. This role is ideal for someone early in their data engineering career who is eager to build scalable data solutions that drive insights across manufacturing, supply chain, and retail operations. You will work closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure reliable, high-quality data pipelines and contribute to a modern, cloud-based analytics ecosystem.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
- Assist in building and maintaining data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric components (Data Factory, Dataflows, Lakehouse, Warehouse)
- Ingest data from multiple sources including ERP, POS systems, IoT devices, and third-party vendors
- Support ETL/ELT processes to transform raw data into curated datasets for analytics and reporting
- Write and optimize SQL queries and Spark-based transformations
- Monitor data pipelines and troubleshoot failures or performance issues
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity across systems
- Participate in data model design for reporting and analytics use cases
- Work with analysts and business teams to understand data requirements
- Support reporting needs in Power BI by delivering clean, structured datasets
- Contribute to documentation of data flows, pipelines, and data definitions
- Learn and apply best practices in data engineering, DevOps, and data governance
- Identify opportunities to improve automation, reduce data latency, and enhance data reliability
- Can be relied upon to work proactively – a candidate who would prefer to be less busy need not apply.
- Takes ownership – data engineering is often about fixing processes that are broken before anyone else notices; successful candidate will demonstrate willingness to identify and fix problems without input from other people.
