This is a 4 month contract, 37.5 hours per week, £15-£16 per hour. Historic Newspapers specialises in bespoke, personalised books created from their private archive of over 2 million original newspapers. Since June 2025, both Historic Newspapers and its parent company, Wonderbly, have been owned by Penguin Random House. With HQ Office in London as well as Offices in SW Scotland, ‘HN’ looks to connect people with their passions through the books they produce. Over the last 12 months, Historic Newspapers has undergone transformational change with the launch of an entirely new look and feel to the brand, coupled with a re-platforming of our website to Shopify. This exciting project has yielded incredible results, with 300% YoY growth to the business.
Reporting to the Creative Director, the primary function of the role is to support the Creative team in producing high-quality artwork for our newspaper books and add-ons. The role will focus on creating and adapting templated content, preparing files for print and digital output, and supporting the production of content for our Newspaper books and add-ons such as the pictorial content for the Deluxe upgrade. You will work closely with designers, copywriters and researchers to ensure all creative output is accurate, consistent and aligned to brand guidelines. This role is temporary for 4 months initially. The role can be home based with some ability to travel into the London office desirable.
Responsibilities:
- Producing templated Deluxe content and supporting book production
- Preparing and formatting artwork for print and digital use
- Adapting existing designs into multiple formats and layouts
- Assisting with retouching images for marketing assets
- Ensuring all artwork meets brand guidelines and technical specifications
- Working collaboratively with designers, copywriters and researchers
- Managing multiple tasks and deadlines with strong attention to detail
- Supporting general creative production tasks as required
Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign and Photoshop
- An understanding of layout, typography and visual consistency
- Awareness of print production processes is desirable
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Highly computer literate with a positive, can-do attitude
- An interest in sports, specifically US sports, is an advantage
