The SEND Lead will work within the nursery rooms, providing both general nursery practitioner duties and specific SEND-related responsibilities. The role requires a blend of hands-on interaction with children and the strategic implementation of support plans tailored to each child’s unique needs. The SEND Lead will ensure that staff are well-informed about these plans and equipped to carry them out daily., * Child Support and Target Implementation:

Work directly with all children in the room, ensuring they are fully supported in all aspects of their nursery experience.

Dedicate a minimum of one hour per week per child on a Support Plan, working on specific targets, whether through direct interaction with the child or by coaching room staff on necessary interventions and techniques. Ensuring this one hour is booked on a regular routine so the room staff can plan their own days.

Ensure that all staff are aware of each child’s targets and the strategies in place to meet these targets.

Support Plan Review and Target Setting:

Review each child’s Support Plan every six weeks, ensuring targets are relevant and based on the child’s developmental needs and next steps.

After reviewing and updating Support Plans, share them with the SENCO for further input before they are presented to parents for their six-weekly review meetings.
