About WONDER

We work through trusted local partners who understand their communities. Since 2012, we have worked with 37 partners in 25 countries to support over 185,000 women and girls. We are a small, focused team. Decisions are made quickly, ideas are tested in real time, and the people we fund see the difference in months, not years.

Purpose of the Role

Individual giving is how WONDER raises unrestricted income, the funding that gives our partners flexibility and follows need. Our donor community is loyal, engaged, and growing, and there is clear room to reach more people who share our values. This role owns the individual giving programme end to end: regular giving, fundraising campaigns, challenge events and community fundraising, and our legacy and in-memory programme. You will design the supporter journeys, run the campaigns, and build the stewardship that keeps donors close to the work. This is a role for someone who is genuinely curious about what moves people to give, and to give again, who sees the supporter behind every number. You will be someone who delivers: who takes a campaign from idea to results, on time, and wants that work to improve the futures of women and girls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Campaigns and regular giving: Plan and deliver 2-4 fundraising campaigns a year with the Communications team, using direct marketing across a range of channels to recruit, engage, and retain supporters. Grow the monthly giving programme and strengthen the donor journey at every step. Develop and manage Mailchimp email marketing, grow the mailing list, and analyse user journeys to improve results. Manage our donation platforms with the Philanthropy Manager: adding campaigns, writing updates, and keeping the wider team informed.
  • Supporter care and stewardship: Run a thanking programme that gives every donor a personal, engaging experience. Produce supporter materials. Maximise Gift Aid. Keep every activity and contact recorded on Salesforce.
  • Legacy and in-memory giving: Manage and grow WONDER's legacy and in-memory programme. Raise awareness of legacy giving among our supporters, and identify and steward legacy and in-memory donors with particular care.
  • Challenge events and community fundraising: Manage the challenge events programme and steward participants into long-standing supporters. Build lasting relationships with community partners, and explore new ways WONDER can engage in community fundraising.
  • Data, insight, and innovation: Analyse and segment the supporter base to build targeted journeys and ask strategies that maximise the lifetime value of donors. Work with the Salesforce Administrator to understand donor behaviour and develop reporting on return on investment and donor lifetime value. Run a continuous cycle of testing new channels and techniques for acquisition and retention, grounded in audience insight and sector trends. Attend training and build connections across the sector to spot opportunities early.
  • Stories and content: Work with colleagues to gather stories, testimonies, and case studies. Turn them into campaign content that moves supporters. Engage ambassadors, including campaign-specific ambassadors, and contribute to publicity opportunities.
  • Team and planning: Work closely with the Philanthropy Manager to coordinate the individual giving and philanthropy income streams. Recruit, manage, and develop interns and volunteers to support delivery of fundraising objectives. Contribute to income forecasting, team planning, and strategy with the Development Director.

What Success Looks Like

At 12 months, you will have:

  • Delivered the year's fundraising campaigns on time, with results analysed and learnings applied to the next
  • Grown the monthly giving programme, with clear supporter journeys in place for acquisition and retention
  • A thanking and stewardship programme running so well that every donor feels known and valued
  • A clear plan for legacy and in-memory giving, with first steps live
  • Challenge event participants and community partners who come back
  • Reliable reporting on campaign return on investment and donor lifetime value, built with the Salesforce Administrator
  • The individual giving and philanthropy income streams working closely as one

We will agree specific income targets with you at the outset, based on current performance.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • A track record of income generation through direct marketing campaigns, acquisition and retention across digital channels
  • Project management experience delivering campaigns on time and on budget
  • Strong campaign copywriting, and the ability to turn ideas into clear design briefs
  • Experience using a fundraising database for segmentation, targeting, testing, and response analysis, and applying what the data tells you
  • Confidence producing supporter materials
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the warmth to engage diverse audiences in keeping with WONDER's approach
  • Confident using AI tools as part of day-to-day work; we use Claude across the team and will support you to use it well
  • Right to work in the UK
  • A commitment to WONDER's vision, mission, and approach

Personal Attributes

  • Organised and disciplined: plans well, follows through, and keeps several campaigns moving without things falling through the cracks
  • Warm and supporter-focused: treats every donor as a person, not a data point
  • Curious about results: wants to know what worked, what didn't, and why
  • Honest and clear: writes and speaks plainly
  • Collaborative: enjoys a small team where roles cross and ideas are refined together

Desirable

  • Experience of challenge events, community fundraising, or legacy marketing
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce or a comparable fundraising CRM
  • Language skills in Spanish or French (key languages of our overseas partners)
  • An interest in women's education, economic empowerment, or international development

Reporting Structure

You will report to the Development Director and work alongside the Philanthropy Manager, coordinating closely so the individual giving and philanthropy income streams work as one. You will also work closely with the Communications Manager and the Corporate Partnerships Manager. WONDER's fundraising team is small. You will have real ownership and direct access to senior leadership.
