Women’s Work is a National Award Winning Charity founded in 2003. We aim to deliver a holistic, person centred support service to vulnerable and disadvantaged women with complex health and social needs. We do this by ensuring they can access support, education and information to raise self-esteem and confidence, empowering them to make positive life choices resulting in improved health and wellbeing.
We are seeking an organised and proactive Finance Officer to join our team and play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, processing income and expenditure, supporting payroll administration, and producing financial and monitoring information to support the charity's operations.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with finance experience who is looking to make a meaningful impact within the charitable sector. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will support the efficient day-to-day operation of the charity's finance function, ensuring accurate financial records, processing transactions, and providing valuable financial and monitoring information to support the organisation's work. You will also contribute to the charity's sustainability by helping identify funding opportunities and supporting grant and bid applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and accurately record income from multiple sources.
- Manage accounts payable, including invoice verification and supplier payments.
- Maintain financial records and ensure compliance with financial procedures.
- Assist with management accounts, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Support budgeting and financial planning activities.
- Process staff timesheets, expenses, and mileage claims.
- Assist with payroll administration and salary payments.
- Maintain and carry out checks on the charity's asset register.
- Research funding opportunities and support grant applications.
- Maintain accurate member and donor databases.
- Record and monitor information in line with funder requirements.
About You
We are looking for a highly organised and motivated finance professional with an AAT Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) or at least three years' experience in a finance-related role. You will have strong financial administration experience, excellent IT skills including Microsoft Excel, and experience using financial accounting software.
You will be analytical, detail-oriented, and able to manage a varied workload with accuracy and efficiency. Strong communication skills are essential, alongside the ability to work independently, use initiative, and build positive working relationships with colleagues across the organisation. Above all, you will be professional, approachable, and committed to working in an inclusive and non-judgemental way that reflects the values of Women's Work.
