Description:

We are looking for highly motivated university students with a clear passion for engineering and innovative technology, keen to gain skills and knowledge in a fast-paced design, development, and manufacturing environment.

The successful candidates will work as part of dedicated engineering teams on customer projects and will be mentored and coached throughout their placement. You will have the freedom to innovate and develop solutions to real challenges. Successful candidates will likely come from an engineering background and be able to demonstrate a keen approach to new challenges and an eye for detail.

You will also have the opportunity to choose an individual project, which will allow you to test the skills you have developed and provide the basis for a report and presentation at the end of your placement to satisfy any requirements of your academic course. This will also provide an opportunity to own a project, demonstrate responsibility, and develop interpersonal skills within an engineering environment.

As well as developing an understanding of axial-flux motor technology and key manufacturing methods, you will also adopt skills in the following from working in our Design team:

  • Learning to use engineering software including CAD or Finite Element Analysis tools, to design and assess E-motor components and assemblies, considering structural, vibration and thermal duty.
  • Define and carry out testing programs to understand and develop YASA motor technology considering design, processes, performance and materials.
  • Work hands-on with test equipment, simulation software and CAD design packages to aid product development.
  • Validate and assess engineering analysis by applying first principles and/or use of empirical data.
  • Carry out data analysis and draw conclusions on results to produce engineering reports.
  • Assist in specification drafting and requirements management to ensure designs fulfill performance criteria.
  • Assist in the innovation of materials, prototype parts and new manufacturing processes.
  • Present and discuss data and results to internal and external customers.
