About the Role
Are you an experienced Process Engineer with a passion for sustainable engineering and large-scale delivery? Weβre looking for a senior engineer to join Carbon Neutral Fuels as Engineering Manager for the FEED phase of our flagship Power-to-Liquid Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) project, ASAP-DAC.
In this critical role, youβll act as the internal technical lead, working closely with our Project Director, Project Manager, technology licensors, and FEED contractor to ensure design integrity across a complex, integrated facility. The scope includes cutting edge green technologies such as Direct Air Capture (DAC), SOEC Electrolysis and Fischer-Tropsch synthesis.
Youβll be responsible for reviewing and coordinating technical deliverables, guiding key design decisions, and acting as the key technical interface with our FEED contractor and process licensors. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with strong design coordination experience, a rigorous process mindset, and enthusiasm for working with cutting-edge low-carbon technologies.

Your responsibilities
β Lead internal technical oversight of the FEED contractorβs process and multidisciplinary engineering deliverables.
β Review and challenge PFDs, P&IDs, mass and energy balances, control philosophies, and equipment specifications.
β Maintain the process design basis and ensure alignment with project performance and commercial assumptions.
β Coordinate discipline interfaces across DAC, electrolysis, Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, utilities, and infrastructure.
β Support HAZID/HAZOP reviews and manage associated technical actions.
β Oversee technical risk register, management of change, and configuration control.
β Support constructability, operability, and maintainability reviews during FEED.
β Contribute to procurement package definition and long-lead item reviews.
β Present technical inputs to internal project reviews and governance committees

Required Qualifications & Experience
β Degree-qualified Process Engineer (Chemical Engineering or related discipline).
β Chartered Engineer status or demonstrable equivalent experience.
β 10+ years of process engineering experience in the energy sector.
β Significant experience overseeing FEED or EPC contractor work on major projects.
β Strong working knowledge of UK process safety and permitting standards (e.g. COMAH)
β Proven track record of multidisciplinary coordination and contractor engagement
Desirable
β Experience with syngas and/or hydrogen, and/or Gas-to-Liquids (Fischer-Tropsch)
β Familiarity with planning, permitting, and EIA processes in the UK.
β Experience with Operations & Maintenance

About Carbon Neutral Fuels
We believe in connecting the world through sustainable flight. At Carbon Neutral Fuels, a growing organisation established in 2022 and part-funded by the UK Government, we see a future where clean aviation is the norm, not the exception.
Our flagship e-fuels production facility, ASAP-DAC, was awarded Department of Transport funding to complete Feasibility and Pre-FEED stage studies. Having successfully completed these, and with the site and technology vendors selected, we are gearing up to begin FEED in Summer 2025. This facility will produce sustainable aviation fuel for the domestic market.
