The Duty Shift Leader plays a key role in supporting the Shift Leader and stepping in during periods of annual leave, contributing to succession planning efforts.

Job Description

This role is vital for monitoring and maintaining all M&E assets at the Gloucester data centre, ensuring everything operates efficiently.
The Duty Shift Leader will also oversee external contractors when necessary, ensuring compliance with current statutory regulations and aligning with site, ISS, and Barclays rules, processes, and procedures.
The core purpose of this role is to ensure that all equipment on site is in optimal condition by performing necessary repairs, reporting issues, and managing them effectively.
By doing so, the Duty Shift Leader helps guarantee that our client\’s data equipment has maximum resilience, ensuring continuous power and cooling to the data halls at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain engineering standards to ensure the operational effectiveness and reliability of Plant and M&E systems
  • Adhere to Health and Safety statutory requirements
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001-2000 Quality Assurance procedures and maintain accurate records/documentation
  • Respond promptly and effectively to M&E reactive maintenance issues and help desk requests
  • Coordinate and action all Help Desk requests from the client
  • Ensure Method Statements and Risk Assessments are prepared and utilised for all tasks (PPMs and reactive maintenance)
  • Respond to call outs and cover breakdowns and emergencies related to M&E services
  • Diagnose faults and repair M&E systems and controls
  • Assist and supervise other trades as required

Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications

  • Multi-skilled with Mechanical/Electrical knowledge of UPS, Generators, and Power Distribution
  • HV switching experience with a current HV training certificate
  • Qualified as an electrical or mechanical engineer to current standards
  • Strong verbal, written, and telephone communication skills
  • Team player with an understanding of commitment required in a critical environment
  • Good leadership and management skills
