This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing charity, and a committed team in making a significant and lasting difference to the lives of vulnerable women, those experiencing domestic abuse as well as involved in prostitution or at risk of sexual exploitation.
The role of secretary is a valued and important position, with great responsibility and reliance within our organisation, helping us to function effectively at meetings, keeping detailed information and records of meeting minutes, which are a necessity and essential if and when reports are required. The role also keeps us organised and compliant with charity commission requirements, which is recognised as an essential role requirement. The secretary will also work closely with the Chair in organising the board and other strategic meetings.
What are we looking for?

- Have governance experience and strategic vision.
- Good independent judgement, integrity, and an ability to think creatively.
- Experience in administration, using IT, communication, and organisational skills.
- Team players with excellent communication skills and a passion for social and human rights issues.
- Some knowledge and/or experience of working with vulnerable women and/or victims of human trafficking or sexual exploitation.
- Lived experience of exploitation is also welcomed.
What will you be doing?
We are looking for a trustee as our charity secretary, which would involve adhering to charity commission requirements, preferably with governance experience. The role requires secretarial duties, being present and organising board meetings, taking the minutes and distributing accordingly, managing correspondence, ensuring effective administration of the charity, and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. Excellent communication skills and working as part of a team, with commitment to the charity, good independent judgement with integrity, and the ability to think creatively are essential. A passion for social and human rights issues is also important. The post will involve attending a minimum of six meetings a year, the majority via Zoom and occasionally in person.
