Your Future Role
Alstom UK is dedicated to providing comprehensive support and coordination for the Caledonian Sleeper (CS) Project, ensuring the effective optimisation of fleet maintenance operations. This role will focus on establishing efficient communication channels between Alstom and the Caledonian Sleeper teams, facilitating timely technical responses, and developing robust maintenance procedures to enhance train reliability and performance. This role involves travel between Wembley and Glasgow.
We’ll Look to You To:
- Coordinate advice and provide support to optimise fleet maintenance for Alstom, ensuring measurable improvements.
- Establish effective communication channels between Alstom maintenance teams and the Caledonian Sleeper Engineering teams.
- Manage the coordination of technical questions received from the Caledonian Sleeper and ensure the prompt provision of Alstom’s responses.
- Prepare and maintain a comprehensive set of Alstom procedures for fleet checks and tests on coaches, ensuring updates are made as required by the Caledonian Sleeper team.
- Regularly analyse Alstom’s maintenance data to support the Caledonian Sleeper in optimising maintenance activities and generate reports on train reliability and performance.
- Coordinate Alstom’s technical resources to conduct testing and fleet checks in alignment with the Caledonian Sleeper’s requirements.
- Oversee and execute technical investigations and root cause analyses of coach failures.
- Assist the Caledonian Sleeper in developing technical solutions for addressing failures in the coaches.
- Support the Caledonian Sleeper in initiatives aimed at improving train reliability and performance.
What do I need to qualify for this job?
- Significant experience in fleet maintenance and support within a rail industry context; knowledge of associated standards is advantageous.
- An educational background in Engineering or a related field at Higher National Certificate (HNC) level or equivalent.
- The individual must demonstrate a proactive, disciplined, and logical approach to problem-solving, acting as a self-motivated team player who can communicate effectively at all levels while being innovative in achieving high standards of maintenance support.
- Excellent capabilities in technical analysis, problem-solving, and continuous improvement methodologies, alongside a solid understanding of Health and Safety (H&S) standards.
- A strong customer focus is essential to ensure service delivery meets expectations and project deadlines.
- Full compliance with all relevant design, quality, and Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) regulations is non-negotiable.
- Ability to deliver to agreed timelines, cost constraints, and quality standards consistently.
- A good understanding of requirements including:
- Knowledge of fleet maintenance processes, optimisation strategies, and performance metrics within the rail industry.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting methodologies.
- Familiarity with technical investigation techniques, root cause analysis, and development of maintenance procedures.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively between various engineering and maintenance teams.
