The Payment Networks Technology division comprises several market-facing programs that drive Transaction Switching, Clearing, Settlement and Integration into Value Added Services. These programs together power Mastercard’s core business across the globe. The Senior Vice President, Real Time Payments Solutions will be responsible for driving Technical Solutions for Account-to-Account Real Time Payments. This role will work in a highly collaborative fashion with Product Owners and Engineering delivery teams during the intake, ideation, prioritization, solution design, sizing, and delivery packaging phase of the initiatives.

This role will proactively engage, collaborate, develop Solutions, and prioritize initiatives with peers from the Product Organizations and the Regions to ensure the successful execution of Product and regional roadmaps in support of the corporate strategy. This role will manage an organization consisting of client solutioning experts, platform architects, and program management function. This role will have a direct influence on Engineering delivery and may require providing oversight into engineering delivery.

Role

  • Strategic technical leader who brings considerable experience as an engineer or product manager designing highly scalable payment solutions using a broad range of technologies.
  • Collaborates with business/product owners across the organization to develop solutions, prioritize and deliver on new services to address market, customer, and product needs.
  • Provide technical platform product management thought leadership for the organization, setting the vision and direction for the design of assigned products, platforms, and applications.
  • Responsible for driving value-based product demand prioritization by streamlining processes during product development lifecycle (ideation, market opportunity assessment, solution design, estimation, prioritization for engineering delivery, delivery planning, program/delivery management etc.).
  • Makes trade-off decisions on multiple products in the portfolio, prioritizing the most critical long-term project requests driving revenue, creating, or maintaining competitive advantages.
  • Manage escalations from executives across the organization and assess alternatives to resolve (path to green), build a plan for resolution and gain consensus with stakeholders.
  • Brings continuous improvement mindset by implementing streamlined processes (using AI where possible) to reduce churn and improve collaborative culture across Product, Engineering, and other stakeholders.
  • Develops a culture of ingenuity, creativity, and collaboration, acts as a role model for others in challenging the status quo to encourage innovation while ensuring strategies are aligned with product and internal platform teams.
  • Build and cultivate strong internal customer relationships to establish engagement models for your team and ensure delivery is aligned with expectations.
  • Own the long-term view (2-5 years) of platform strategy aligned to product strategy and make trade-off decisions within it.
  • Emulate and drive Mastercard Way behaviours through their behaviour, recognitions, coaching, and employee engagement.
  • Ensures team culture consistently demonstrates alignment with leadership principles.
  • Actively encourage the development of talent while continuously raising the bar.

All About You

  • Passion for bringing solutions to market, strong Account-to-Account Real Time Payments experience with successful track record in managing medium-to-large scale organizations with demonstrated thought-leadership, cross-functional influence, and partnership.
  • Technology leader with previous experience as an engineer or product manager who has designed or implemented highly scalable and configurable platforms at leading technology or financial companies.
  • Has the executive presence to work with senior leaders within Mastercard and with our customers, the largest global banks and fintechs in the world.
  • Balanced decision-maker who leverages data, insights, and competitive analysis to prioritize key strategies and technology to drive revenue and competitive advantages.
  • Trusted partner with internal and external stakeholders – providing consultative technical and business leadership.
  • Understanding of various payments schemes and ecosystems, including payments messaging formats such as ISO 8583, ISO 20022, experience with cloud-based services, blockchain technology, and faster payments would be beneficial.
  • Pragmatic leader, transformational change agent who is calm under pressure.
  • Ability to manage objectives and pipelines, build business cases, define success metrics, and interpret P&L to optimize the business.
  • Develop leaders within the team – empowered to operate autonomously with support when needed.
