We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our LFC Team as a Skilled Gardener.

In this role will play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of horticultural presentation across all club facilities, including training grounds, stadium perimeters, gardens, landscaped areas, and public-facing spaces.

The role ensures that all grounds are safe, visually outstanding, environmentally sustainable, and reflective of a world‑class Premier League organisation.

What you will be doing?

  • Horticultural Maintenance
  • Carry out high-quality maintenance of landscaped areas including planting, pruning, hedge cutting, edging, mulching, weeding, and border management.
  • Maintain lawns, ornamental grass areas, and amenity turf to an elite-standard finish.
  • Implement seasonal planting schemes and assist with design improvements to enhance visual appeal.
  • Monitor plant health, soil condition, and irrigation needs, identifying and resolving issues promptly.
  • Grounds Presentation & Upkeep
  • Ensure all non‑pitch outdoor areas are clean, tidy, and presentable for players, staff, visitors, and media.
  • Support with matchday and event preparations, ensuring all club surroundings project a professional image.
  • Maintain pathways, car parks, signage areas, and external structures through routine gardening duties.
  • Support biodiversity initiatives and sustainable landscaping practices.
  • Manage waste responsibly, including composting and recycling green waste.
  • Assist in water‑efficient practices, such as irrigation monitoring and drought‑appropriate planting.
  • Machinery & Equipment
  • Operate and maintain horticultural machinery and tools safely (e. g., hedge cutters, mowers, strimmer’s, blowers).
  • Conduct basic servicing, cleaning, and first‑line maintenance on equipment.
  • Ensure all equipment is used in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Health & Safety
  • Follow all club safety procedures, risk assessments, and safe working practices.
  • Report hazards, incidents, and maintenance issues promptly.
  • Ensure safe handling of pesticides, fertilisers, and chemicals (PA1/PA6 desirable).
  • Teamwork & Communication
  • Work collaboratively with Grounds Staff, Grounds Management, and external contractors.
  • Support pitch teams when required during busy periods (e. g., seasonal transitions, matchday prep).
  • Provide a professional and courteous service when interacting with club personnel and guests.

Who we are looking for?

  • Proven experience in professional horticulture, landscaping, or grounds maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of plant species, soil types, turf care, and horticultural best practices.
  • Competent in the safe and effective use of gardening and grounds machinery.
  • Good understanding of health and safety, including COSHH awareness.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and maintain high standards.
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Horticulture, Amenity Horticulture, or related discipline.
  • Experience working in elite sports environments or high‑profile estates.
  • Full UK driving licence.
