A bit about the job
We are looking for a Lead Data Scientist to join Aviva’s Global Corporate & Specialty (GCS) Data and AI Team. The role will work with stakeholders and cross‑functional teams to identify and seize opportunities to apply AI and solve real‑world problems. You will play a key part in shaping the future of GCS insurance through cutting‑edge analytics, providing new data‑driven insights and designing and delivering productionised AI solutions that improve decision‑making for our stakeholders.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
- Experience using data to solve complex business problems and deliver practical outcomes
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently to develop data‑driven solutions
- Confidence engaging with stakeholders and clearly explaining technical concepts to non‑technical audiences
- Strong programming skills (e.g. Python, SQL, R) with experience building data science and AI models
- Experience mentoring others and contributing to a collaborative, supportive team environment; experience leading and supporting a small team desirable but not necessary
What you’ll get for this role:
- Starting salary £50,000 – £65,000 (depending on location, skills, experience and qualifications)
- Bonus opportunity 10% – actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s
- Generous pension scheme; e.g. if you put in 8%, Aviva adds 14%
