A bit about the job:
- You’ll lead how we modernise our cloud platforms at Aviva, working alongside the Hosting and Service Platforms Director to shape our cloud strategy and deliver scalable, cloud-native architecture solutions.
- You’ll help our developers build faster, safer and simpler services for our customers by creating a great developer experience through the right tools, training and standards.
- You’ll be accountable for defining and delivering the end to end cloud modernisation roadmap, leading the design, build and operation of our platforms, and ensuring strong operational performance.
- You’ll also lead a high-performing team, manage suppliers and partners to deliver high-quality services, and oversee risk and controls across your area.
- Alongside this, you’ll play a key role in supporting strategic technology programmes, contributing to Aviva’s wider transformation.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
- Experience designing, building, and running cloud-native platforms (AWS, including Kubernetes such as EKS or AKS)
- Proven leadership experience in cloud or platform engineering teams
- In depth understanding of cloud strategy, architecture and delivery at enterprise level
- Experience managing suppliers and working with complex senior stakeholders
- Knowledge of regulated environments and risk and control frameworks (financial services experience is a plus)
What you’ll get for this role:
- Starting salary circa £125,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
- Bonus opportunity – 25% of annual salary. Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
