Are you a thoughtful, driven leader who’s excited by the opportunity to shape the future of energy through data? We’re looking for a compassionate and strategic Data Team Manager to lead our Commercial Data Team. Someone who thrives in collaboration, brings energy sector experience, and is passionate about growing people as much as delivering results. In this role, you’ll partner closely with the business to help us stay ahead in a dynamic commodity market, lead on key data transformations, and ensure our insights make a real difference across the organisation. Energy experience is essential for this role – we’re seeking someone who truly understands the unique challenges and nuances of the sector and is ready to make an impact from day one.
Here’s a taste of what you’ll be doing:
- Build trusted relationships as a key business partner, confidently engaging senior stakeholders while providing clarity and direction
- Shape and lead the delivery of the data roadmap, carefully balancing urgent needs with long term goals
- Empower teams across the organisation by lifting data literacy and nurturing a self-serve culture
- Guide your team through a data transformation journey, creating a reliable single source of truth using DataBricks
- Develop and scale meaningful data models, including AI/ML opportunities, that unlock tangible value for our customers and business
- Champion and manage impactful, reliable data products that support commercial decision making
- Contribute to our broader data strategy, collaborating with the leadership team to focus on value, growth and people
- Create a supportive, inclusive environment for your team where everyone feels heard, respected and motivated to grow
Are we the perfect match?
- A proven track record of creating business value through data within the energy sector
- Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to explain insights in a compelling, accessible way
- Comfort working with senior stakeholders and shaping high level data conversations
- Experience creating and delivering data roadmaps with strong prioritisation and impact focus
- A passion for sustainable, well managed data products that make a difference
- Hands on knowledge of DataBricks and experience with data transformation programmes
- A genuine interest in leading and developing people, building happy and high performing teams
- A belief in strong data foundations and pragmatic delivery over perfection
- A relevant degree or equivalent experience in statistics, mathematics, or a related field
It would be great if you had:
- Commercial understanding of energy markets and commodity pricing
- Experience using AI/ML to personalise customer experiences or optimise operations
- A background in developing data-led commercial strategies
- Familiarity working in fast paced, high-autonomy environments
- A natural ability to bring people together around shared goals
This role requires direct energy sector experience – unfortunately, candidates without this background will not be considered. You’ll be joining a dynamic and growing business where data is at the heart of everything we do. You’ll have the autonomy to lead, space to innovate, and a team who values support, balance and shared success.
