We\’re a forward-thinking law firm and have a number of offices across the UK. We provide legal expertise and commercial advice to our clients across a wide range of sectors including Energy and Natural Resources, Real Estate, Private Wealth, Healthcare, Retail, Technology and more.
We now have a job opportunity for a Treasury Assistant to join our large finance team in Newcastle. We\’re a long standing business in Newcastle and lucky enough to have offices in The Spark which is a relatively new addition to the city\’s Helix quarter.
The team
Central to our firm\’s success are of course our very talented lawyers, but they couldn\’t achieve their results without the ongoing support from our Finance team who have an essential role to play in growing the business and maintaining our financial performance, and our Treasury Team are a crucial cog in our finance wheel. The Treasury team manage all funds coming into and going out of our various client and office bank accounts. They deal with receipt and payment of funds on behalf of our clients, dealing with a high volume of transactions on a daily basis.
The role
Reporting to the Treasury Manager, you will provide general financial support as part of the team. It\’s a busy team and you can expect to be involved with a broad range of tasks which might include the processing of outgoing electronic payments (CHAPS/BACS/Faster payments/International money movers), allocation of incoming funds to the correct client account and matters, stopped cheques, bank reconciliations, payment of foreign disbursements and general banking queries. We\’re a very large firm with many integrated systems and processes so we\’ll give you all the training you need on this.
Although the primary responsibility of this role is Treasury, you will also work across teams such as finance operations, accounts payable, billing, and credit control. The roles cross-team collaboration will give you significant exposure to various functions, allowing you to develop a wide array of capabilities.

We\’re dealing with high value transactions, so accuracy and a meticulous approach is needed. As part of a busy team, you\’ll need to be a supportive colleague with a helpful attitude. As you\’ll be working across our other dynamic finance functions too, we\’re looking for someone who is flexible, adaptable, and an exceptional communicator ready to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
In addition, you\’ll need to be professional and pragmatic with a naturally inquisitive nature. We\’re looking for a problem-solver who uses common sense to reach a satisfactory conclusion. This is a great role whether you already have experience and are looking for a new opportunity or if you are still developing your skills.
To be successful in this role you\’ll need as a minimum:
- Strong academics with good grades in English and Maths
- Some previous experience of working within an office or finance department
- Experience of dealing with queries and problem solving
- Strong IT skills including excel
