Home grown talent is at the heart of our recruitment strategy and we love investing in future talent. At WBD we are passionate about protecting and securing our firm's and client's information and, as part of our exciting development plans, we have an opportunity to join our Risk and Best Practice team as an Information Security Apprentice.

Joining the Risk and Best Practice team you'll be undertaking the Level 4 Data Protection and Information Governance Apprenticeship. You'll be supported by Shaun Wright, our Information Security Analyst, and will also have Alan Keith, Head of Risk Management, and other team members to help guide you along your way.

What you’ll be doing

There is a lot to unpack within this new role with us. You'll be supporting the delivery and maintenance of our IS programme, associated projects, policies and procedures and help us to improve our systems and controls. You'll help co-ordinate phishing tests, get involved with incident handling and reviews, deal with subject access requests, conduct due diligence on client requirements and suppliers and provide audit support to name a few. Once you're more comfortable in your new role, you'll be acting as a point of contact to support and deal with information security advice and offer guidance to the wider business, report on your findings and help to develop our information security risk mitigations. You’ll also provide general support and assistance to Shaun and the wider Risk and Best Practice team as well as record keeping and general admin.

Qualifications

As this is an apprenticeship opportunity, we're not looking for the finished article but for someone who has a natural interest in mitigating risk and an understanding of the current and emerging information security threat landscape. We’re looking for someone who has a pro-active and pragmatic approach. As this is a people-based role we’re looking for the ability to naturally build long-lasting relationships with excellent written and verbal communication. You'll need to have a strong work ethic and determination to help us improve. You'll enjoy problem solving, analysing and using your initiative as it will be needed for a wide variety of tasks and queries. Ideally you will have some knowledge of ISO27001 / information security, but if not we are in this together and will support your learning here! To be eligible for the apprenticeship we are looking for a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above (C in the old system) as well as three A levels or equivalent at C or above.
