We currently have an exciting opportunity for an IT Apprentice to join our IT Service Desk team based in our Plymouth office.

First-class IT systems are absolutely key to the success of any business in today's commercial world and the legal sector is no exception. Our IT team have worked exceptionally hard to enable our business to adapt fully to the virtual/hybrid working world. Womble Bond Dickinson prides itself on being at the forefront of technological advancements within the legal profession. To remain competitive in our markets, and to continue supporting our growth strategies, our team of dedicated IT professionals have a key role to play, ensuring the integrity of the IT infrastructure, development of new systems and excellent support to all of our employees and clients.

Our Service Desk team are the dedicated staff we phone or email when we first discover we have an IT problem. They are always helpful, patient and good at problem solving. It may be re-setting a password, resolving access issues, unlocking a document through to arranging for new equipment or resolving a complex workflow issue.

Our IT apprenticeship offers you the opportunity to gain a formal IT qualification (Microsoft Azure Cloud Support Specialist Level 3 Apprenticeship) as well as receiving paid on-the-job training. You will be supported by Andy, our Service Desk Supervisor, and another Service Desk Analyst will mentor you through your journey with us.

By supporting the Service Desk team you will learn IT principles and practices, develop first class customer service skills and build effective relationships with people across the firm. You will also log requests, help with any office moves, assist with the initial set up of new user accounts and equipment and help with new software upgrades. This list is by no means exhaustive so you will have lots to get your teeth stuck into. Most importantly you will participate in the wider IT team supporting the business.

There will also be the opportunity to travel to other UK offices – getting to know the wider IT Team and firm, supporting other offices during rollouts and holiday cover for the level 2 team.

We are looking for someone who brings the right attitude, curiosity, and foundation to grow into the role—not someone who already has years of experience. What matters most is a genuine interest in IT, clear and friendly communication, and the ability to follow guidance with care. You should feel comfortable tackling simple troubleshooting tasks, logging issues accurately, and knowing when to ask for help. Professionalism is key too, especially when it comes to handling equipment responsibly and respecting data security. If you bring these qualities, we can teach you the rest.
