Technical Clerk

The Opportunity
Wolviston Management Services are pleased to be supporting our client, a well-established specialist within the lifting equipment industry, in the recruitment of a Technical Clerk to join their busy team in Middlesbrough.
This is a varied and fast-paced position, providing essential administrative and coordination support to the Service Division and helping ensure customer requirements and engineering activities are managed efficiently from initial booking through to completion. The role would suit an organised and proactive individual who enjoys working with customers, coordinating workloads and keeping on top of multiple priorities. Previous experience within engineering, service coordination, construction, transport, hire or a similar industrial environment would be advantageous; however, full training can be provided for the right person.
The Role
Working closely with engineers, customers and the wider office team, you will support the day-to-day coordination of service, repair and inspection activities.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Handling incoming customer enquiries via telephone and email
- Booking and coordinating service, repair and inspection work
- Supporting the planning and scheduling of engineer visits
- Updating job records, customer information and internal systems
- Liaising with engineers, customers and suppliers to obtain required information
- Preparing job paperwork and supporting service certification processes
- Monitoring outstanding jobs, reports and follow-up actions
- Ensuring customers are kept informed on the progress of their requirements
- Supporting the wider Service Division with general administration as required
About You
We are looking for someone who is organised, dependable and comfortable working within a busy office environment.
You will ideally have:
- Previous administration, coordination or customer service experience
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- A confident and professional telephone manner
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good general IT skills and confidence using office-based systems
- The ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks
- A proactive approach and willingness to support the wider team
Experience within engineering, lifting equipment, construction, transport, hire or industrial services would be beneficial but is not essential.
Previous exposure to job management systems, CRM software, scheduling tools, purchase orders, service reports or certification would also be advantageous.
