About the Role
You will play a key part in the full design and development process for rigid thermoformed packaging — turning customer concepts into production-ready tooling using leading CAD/CAM and visualisation software. Working closely with engineering, tooling and production teams, you will ensure designs are accurate, manufacturable and aligned with customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and develop thermoformed packaging concepts in line with customer briefs and manufacturing capability.
- Produce detailed 3D models and technical drawings using SolidWorks.
- Generate toolpaths and CNC machining programmes using Powermill.
- Produce high-quality visual renders and presentation material using KeyShot and Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
- Support CNC setup and prototype sampling as required, including holiday cover.
- Maintain accurate documentation, version control and project records throughout each development cycle.
Skills & Experience
We are keen to speak with candidates who can demonstrate:
- Proven experience in rigid packaging design, ideally thermoforming.
- Strong capability in SolidWorks for modelling and drafting.
- Working knowledge of Powermill for toolpath generation and CNC programming.
- Experience with KeyShot and Adobe Creative Cloud for visualisation and presentation.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes — thermoforming, CNC machining and toolmaking.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with strong attention to detail and clear communication.
- A practical, hands-on approach and the confidence to work across design and prototype activities.
Desirable
- Experience in prototype development and machine setup.
- Knowledge of polymer materials and behaviour.
- A strong problem-solving mindset with an innovative approach.
