Wolviston Management Services are supporting a key client within the manufacturing sector in the appointment of an Electrical Automation Engineer to join their team. In this role, you will provide essential electrical and automation engineering expertise, supporting both ongoing operations and future development of the site. Reporting to the Plant Engineer, you will take ownership of CAPEX and major maintenance projects, while also driving continuous improvement across day-to-day plant activities.

You will play a key role in monitoring plant performance, identifying and analysing root causes of significant failures, and implementing effective engineering solutions. Collaboration is central to this position, working closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure the seamless introduction of new equipment, capital projects, and process improvements.

About You: We are looking for a motivated and proactive individual with strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the organisation. You will be confident in leading and motivating multi-disciplinary teams, with a structured approach to project delivery. A solid understanding of project management methodologies and engineering standards is highly desirable. Formal project management qualifications such as APM or PRINCE2 would be advantageous, though not essential.

You will have demonstrable experience in supplier and contractor management, including contract development, on-site delivery oversight, and handling variations or claims. The ability to produce clear and detailed technical specifications for both services and equipment is essential. Strong IT skills, particularly across Microsoft Office applications, are required.

Experience & Qualifications To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation
  • Experience working within a heavy industrial environment
  • Knowledge of HV/LV systems and installations
  • Hands-on experience with PLC programming (Siemens S5/S7) and industrial communications
  • Strong fault-finding capabilities, including closed-loop control and PID systems
  • Experience with AC/DC drives, ideally Siemens

In addition, you will demonstrate strong supervisory or people management experience, coupled with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You will be a self-starter who thrives in a dynamic engineering environment and is driven to deliver continuous improvement.
