About the Opportunity
Wolviston Management Services are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer on behalf of a leading organisation based in Middlesbrough. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established engineering team, where you will play a key role in supporting and developing electrical and automation systems within an industrial manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Plant Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects, major maintenance initiatives, and continuous improvement activities across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide electrical and automation engineering support to site operations.
- Manage and deliver CAPEX and major maintenance projects from conception through to completion.
- Monitor plant performance and identify opportunities for operational improvement.
- Conduct root cause analysis of significant equipment failures and implement effective corrective actions.
- Work closely with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to ensure the successful introduction of new equipment, technologies, and process improvements.
- Develop technical specifications for equipment, products, and engineering services.
- Manage external contractors and suppliers, including contract administration, site supervision, change management, and claims resolution.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be a motivated and proactive engineering professional with excellent communication and leadership skills. You will ideally possess:
- A Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related engineering discipline (or equivalent qualification).
- Previous experience within a heavy industrial engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of HV and LV electrical installations.
- Experience with Siemens S5/S7 PLC programming and communications systems.
- Proven fault-finding and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Knowledge of closed-loop control systems, PID control, and Siemens AC/DC drives.
- Experience managing contractors, suppliers, and project delivery activities.
- The ability to write clear and detailed technical specifications.
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable
- Knowledge of project management methodologies and engineering standards.
- APM, PRINCE2, or similar project management qualifications.
