Wolviston Management Service is delighted to be working in partnership with Tioxide for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the Commercial Team at its Greatham manufacturing site. This is a senior commercial role, providing commercial management support across both site maintenance and project activity. You will be responsible for ensuring costs, contracts, valuations, variations, risks and financial reporting are managed accurately, effectively and in line with governance expectations.
Working closely with maintenance, engineering, project delivery teams, site stakeholders, contractors and suppliers, you will provide strong commercial advice and control to ensure work is delivered in line with technical, financial, contractual and operational requirements. The role will also support value engineering, forecasting accuracy, contractor performance and the timely agreement of final accounts.
Key Responsibilities- Manage commercial and cost control activity within your area of responsibility.
- Ensure costs are allocated correctly and reported accurately in line with the code of accounts.
- Prepare cost estimates, budgets, accruals, Cost Value Reports, forecasts and commercial progress reports.
- Review, verify and support payment of contractor valuations, ensuring invoices are accurate, timely and compliant with contract terms.
- Support tendering and procurement activity, including procurement strategies, tender packages, contractor evaluations and contract negotiations.
- Manage contracts, variations, claims, change orders and scope changes.
- Ensure commercial changes are justified, recorded, controlled and aligned with governance requirements.
- Lead or support contractor management meetings and monitor commercial procedures throughout the contract lifecycle.
- Provide commercial insight during planning, scheduling, constructability reviews and resource planning.
- Work with site teams, engineering, contractors and suppliers to monitor cost, programme, productivity, man-hours, KPIs and value engineering opportunities.
- Escalate commercial risks, performance issues and improvement opportunities where required.
- Support mentoring and commercial capability development across junior commercial staff and site teams.
- A degree, or equivalent knowledge, in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in quantity surveying or commercial management.
- Experience within oil & gas, petrochemical, nuclear, chemical, process, infrastructure or another highly regulated / COMAH environment.
- Strong understanding of cost control, forecasting, valuations, contract administration, change management and final account processes.
- The ability to interpret complex contract, commercial and project information.
- Experience preparing estimates, budgets, accruals, Cost Value Reports, commercial reports and reconciliation documents.
- Experience managing contractor valuations, invoices, variations, claims and change orders.
- Strong Excel and commercial reporting capability.
- SAP capability, or experience using comparable ERP or commercial systems.
- Membership of RICS or another relevant professional body.
