We are supporting a major industrial employer in the North East that is building a new operational team within a modern process manufacturing facility. As part of this growth, we are looking to appoint an experienced Production Team Leader to help lead plant operations and support the development of the production team. This role sits within the operations department and reports to the Production Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating shift activities, ensuring safe and compliant production and supporting continuous improvement across the plant. The position will play a key role in establishing operational standards, promoting a strong safety culture and supporting the development of new operational areas as the business grows.
Role responsibilities
- Support the leadership of day-to-day production activities to ensure safe, efficient and compliant plant operations
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture aligned with high-hazard industry standards and COMAH requirements
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures
- Support and participate in HAZOP studies, risk assessments and incident investigations
- Ensure adherence to permit to work systems and controlled operations
- Provide leadership, coaching and development to production team members
- Collaborate with engineering, EHS and other functions to resolve operational issues
- Drive operational efficiency, reliability and continuous improvement initiatives
- Support the development of new operational areas as the business expands

Candidate profile
- Proven experience within chemical manufacturing or a similar high-hazard process industry
- Experience operating within permit to work systems and controlled operations environments
- Knowledge of HAZOP and other process safety activities
- Strong leadership capability with the ability to develop and motivate teams
- Proactive approach with the ability to identify and drive operational improvements
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and organisational skills
- Experience working on a COMAH site would be advantageous
- Flexibility to work a continental shift pattern
