The Opportunity

Wolviston Management Services is currently recruiting for a Safety Advisor to provide practical Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) support across a major industrial site at Seal Sands, Hartlepool on a temporary rolling contract.

Working as part of the HSEQ team, you will provide hands-on safety support across day-to-day operations, projects and maintenance activities, helping to ensure work is planned and delivered safely, in line with UK legislation, site procedures and company standards.

This is a visible, site-based role suited to an experienced HSE professional who is confident working within a process, manufacturing or heavy industrial environment and engaging effectively with operational teams, project personnel, maintenance teams, contractors and management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide practical HSE advice and support to operations, projects and maintenance activities across the site.
  • Maintain a visible HSE presence across the facility, engaging with the workforce and contractors to promote safe working practices.
  • Undertake site safety observations, field verifications and other proactive safety activities.
  • Support the preparation and delivery of safety briefings and workforce communications.
  • Provide support and guidance during accident and incident investigations.
  • Assist with the preparation, review and implementation of risk assessments and other HSE documentation.
  • Provide HSE support to project and maintenance activities, ensuring appropriate safety standards and controls are maintained.
  • Support the implementation of permit-to-work and other site safety processes.
  • Ensure activities are undertaken in compliance with UK HSE legislation, company policies, procedures and site requirements.
  • Provide HSE advice and input to management teams, operational personnel and contractors as required.
  • Deliver and support safety training, including site inductions, permit-to-work and other safety training aligned with business requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives designed to strengthen site safety performance.
  • Support the wider HSEQ team with occupational health and hygiene activities where required.

About You

We are looking for a practical and proactive Safety Advisor with experience working within an operational industrial environment.

You will ideally have:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate as a minimum.
  • Demonstrable HSE experience within a process, manufacturing, energy, petrochemical or other heavy industrial environment.
  • Experience providing safety support to operations, maintenance and/or project activities.
  • A good understanding of UK HSE legislation, regulations and relevant codes of practice.
  • Experience supporting risk assessments, incident investigations, safety observations and workforce engagement.
  • Knowledge of permit-to-work systems and safe systems of work.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider HSEQ team.
  • A confident, visible and approachable presence on site, with the ability to challenge unsafe practices constructively.
  • A proactive and accountable approach, with a strong commitment to maintaining high standards of safety.
