Wolviston Management Services are recruiting for an experienced Instrumentation Technician to support operations at a large-scale industrial manufacturing facility. This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-performing maintenance team responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of process control and instrumentation systems within a complex industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on a wide range of instrumentation and control systems
- Inspect, fault-find, calibrate and repair field instruments including:
- Pressure, temperature, flow and level transmitters
- Control valves and actuators
- Analytical instrumentation
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and performance of plant equipment
- Interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical documentation
- Work closely with operations and engineering teams to minimise downtime and optimise plant performance
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with site safety standards and procedures
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports using CMMS systems
- Participate in shutdowns, outages and project work as required
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Instrumentation Technician within a heavy industrial, manufacturing, or process environment
- Recognised apprenticeship or relevant technical qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 / HNC in Instrumentation, Electrical & Electronic Engineering or similar)
- Strong knowledge of instrumentation calibration, maintenance and fault diagnosis
- Familiarity with control systems and plant automation (e.g. PLCs / DCS)
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and documentation
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and safety-first mindset
Desirable
- COMPEX certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience working in high-temperature or heavy process environments
- Knowledge of permit-to-work systems and industrial safety protocols
