Support site finance control, reporting and cost performance. This is a key site finance role where you will support the Site Finance Controller in managing and reporting financial activity for the Greatham site, including finance operations, performance reporting, cost control, stock valuation, forecasting and financial controls. You will play an important part in helping the site understand financial performance, manage costs, maintain accurate stock valuations and support effective decision-making across the business. The role also acts as deputy to the Site Finance Controller and is seen as a natural successor position.
What you’ll be doing
- Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting for the Greatham site by supporting monthly, quarterly and annual close activity.
- Maintain robust inventory valuation and working capital control, including finished product and work-in-progress stock.
- Complete stock reconciliations, investigate variances and support physical stock checks in line with corporate controls.
- Support site cost control activity, including budget setting, reporting, variance analysis, explanation and follow-up.
- Contribute to accurate financial forecasts, with a focus on direct costs and clear explanation of key assumptions.
- Provide finance insight to help site teams optimise decision-making, manage costs and improve cash flow.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations with appropriate evidence and commentary.
- Support internal and external audit activity, ensuring information is accurate and controls are evidenced.
- Assist with purchase-to-pay processes, including purchase requisitions, service entry sheets and resolving issues.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting, stock control, forecasting, reconciliations and finance processes.
- Deputise for the Site Finance Controller when required, escalating key issues appropriately.
Candidate requirements
- Part-qualified accountant status, working towards CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent.
- Experience in a finance, accounting, site finance, cost accounting or financial control role.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations, forecasting and cost control.
- Experience supporting month-end, quarter-end or year-end reporting.
- Good knowledge of balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and explain variances clearly.
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
- The ability to work accurately under pressure and meet reporting deadlines.
- Good communication skills, with confidence working with finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Experience in manufacturing, process, chemical, engineering or industrial environments would be beneficial.
- Experience of product costing, stock valuation, inventory control or working capital reporting would be welcomed.
- SAP or other ERP system experience would be beneficial.
